Alexis99, I'm on a similar preop diet (12/21).

Premier Protein (NOT to be confused with Pure Protein) shakes are awesome. They have 30g of Protein and 1g of sugar. I got a case of vanilla and a case of chocolate at costco, but at Walmart you can get them in banana, caramel and strawberry. attachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1481082084.723836.jpgattachicon.gif ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1481082103.907753.jpg

Had my bypass on the 12th and went home on the 15th but was re-admitted on the 17 due to dehydration. Finally home and feeling better! I hope my surgeon will still advance my diet tomorrow at my post op appointment. This broth phase is killing me.. what's everyone eating??

I had my post op appointment yesterday and I am down 18lbs! I am allowed to move to soft foods so I am so excited. I need to remind myself to eat small portions and eat really slow. I baked some fish yesterday and after a 6-7 very small bites I got sick. Yuck!!! I am going to use this as a learning experience. I am taking it very slow today. I think I need to remember i am different and my body is different.

How are you feeling MsMiamiMami

Still tender but adjusting well. I am hoping my energy comes up faster because I still feel weak.

I'm mainly adjusting to figuring out what to eat and what agrees with me.

Thanks for asking!

I am going to try the Protein flan recipe tomorrow -- the vanilla Premier Protein is probably the only artificially sweetened thing in the world that I love.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
