No Hate Just A Bit Help

Recommended Posts

With the kindest words possible. First of all it's mush not fried fatty foods diet. You need to ask yourself why you had this surgery. Did you see a nutritionist before surgery? To teach you healthy eating. Maybe a vegetable Soup or fish meal that is mushy usually. You want something very soft and mushy chips of fried. You want baked fish not fried fish! And lasagne has a lot of carbs you wanna stay away from the starchy foods. Make healthy choices. This is a new start. This is just a tool it's up to you on how you make it work though best of wishes and have a great time with smart choices !!

I agree with the Soup suggestion. Baked fish would be good. Crab cakes are usually pretty mushy, if you like them. Mashed potatoes, if necessary. Sweet potatoes would be better, if they have them. Remember small portions! So, you won't need a whole meal, unless you want to take some home. Good luck! It's pretty early to be doing an outing, but I understand not wanting to miss anything.

You could eat the ricotta and sauce from between the lasagna noodles!

I was told by the dietician I could have anything that I could mash down with a fork. I haven't ate anything proper for 4 weeks and I was going out for meal otherwise I would've has a shake or something. I don't intend eating fatty or convenience foods all the time but I was out for my husbands birthday. Anyways I had lasagne, well I picked at it. Ate very little. Really struggling at this stage not a fan of mush. Just wanted a little help but wish I never asked. Dietician ringing me tomorrow so I can ask her any questions I have.

good that your dietician is accessible on short notice. I went out with my husband while on purees, I find there is usually something. Luckily the had an amuse bouche with hummus, so I was able to have that and then I ordered french onion Soup, but avoided the bread and cheese and just ate the soup. Sounds like the lasagne worked for you. when I was on mushy foods I did make my own mini lasagnas at home with sauce, cottage cheese with a little mozza and a little parmesan mixed in and a little ground beef (no noodles) (baked them in the oven. going forward I'll be making mine with zucchini instead of noodles. still delish.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
