2 weeks out and I havn't lost an ounce so I tried something I heard from other people which is triple my calorie intake. Sometimes my calories are super low. I steadily ate some not great things today just to see if I needed a boost. I realize i have to be careful about my diet. But I am getting really discouraged. Tomorrow back to careful eating. We will see how it goes.

Noooooo. Don't do this. You're only 2 weeks out. Your body is still healing, it's still in shock from surgery, you're probably still holding onto fluids. Just stick to the plan, make sure you're getting ample fluids and the weight will start to fall off. How many calories on average are you eating per day?

Are you saying you're 2 weeks out from having sleeve surgery? If so, nooooooo do not do this!!!

You are lucky that you hadn't gained weight from surgery (they pump lots of fluids and drugs and it causes bloating and Water retention so many gain 3-5 pounds for about a week or two).

Your body is still traumatized from surgery. You should not attempt ANY changes from the doctor's diet you were given this close to surgery as it is dangerous!

Forcing more food or calories in at this point when your stomach is being held together with staples and trying to heal is scary. You are not supposed to worrying about losing weight right now - it is all about healing!

At two weeks the Protein and calorie free Fluid "diet" is really the only option. You are probably getting less than 1000 calories a day and that's if your mixing your Protein with whole milk. Do not cut back on protein. You need it to heal now and for your hair, skin and nails forever.

I gained 7 pounds of Water in hospital and I went in very well hydrated. I know it's hard to believe but you are loosing FAT no matter what the scale says.

I am pretty crappy at pep talks but I'm giving this one all I've got. I'm 62 years old and I've been down this road... well, when it comes to dieting. I've been down most roads... trust me and PLEASE stop weighing yourself donate your scale to goodwill or, at least, cut back to weighing once a week NAKED first thing in the morning.

You probably already know this is bad advice, but please - don't do this. At two weeks out, chicken is a terrible idea, unless your surgeon has advanced your diet to that stage (doubt it.)

Joy@boman Please don't get discouraged, let me share what happened to me. For the first 10 days, I lost nothing too. I had followed all the rules, drank all my 64 oz and got all my Protein in, I exercised and my average daily calories was super low (like most of us the first few weeks). It does get disheartening when the scale doesn't move.

After those 10 days, the weight started coming off, all that excess Water. Your body may just take a little longer to get rid of the that excess Water. Drink, drink, drink to combat the water gain. Your type of case is very common. You'll be able to up your calories and help your metabolism later as you progress through the stages. It's just healing time. Hang in there.

Just being on here today, reading all this amazing advice has given me new/renewed hope! Today I am 1 wk and 1 day post op...my scale broke my heart last night too! And it's one of those new "fancy" scales that tells you everything but "Hey, you're sexy!" After reading everyone's great advice, I put my scale back in the box today. I'll consider revisiting my new scale next week, after my 2 week post op visit with my surgeon.

I joined this site right before my sleeve on 10/20/16 and have learned SOOOO much from so many of you. The biggest thing is that no one experiences this journey exactly the same but there are similarities. Please don't get discouraged if you haven't seen weight loss yet. Your body is adjusting to its "new normal." Hang in there!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
