Home and feeling pretty good. First day after surgery I was not able to walk as I was so loaded up on meds. 2nd day had severe back pain but walked 6 times that day and was doing much better. I did have major issues with high blood pressure even in recovery room. My bp was 220 over 105 so they kept me in recovery longer. Then next 2 days in hospital room my BP kept sky rocketing. I was able to come home but I have 24 hour care till post op on the 11th to keep an eye on my bp. Even with all that I say this is the best thing I have done for my health. Feeling well, walking, stretches and liquids. Definitely make sure you get a knack for the liquid diet prior to surgery because it makes it easier post op. You definitely can't gulp or drink quickly and slow and easy is the way to go. Leak test was not as bad I thought. Good luck and if you have any questions I am happy to answer

Glad to hear you are home and doing ok. Hopefully the blood pressure thing will get better for you.

Before surgery I had high BP and took medication every day for it. Now I have the opposite...I have low BP and very low heart rate.

They figured out they needed to get me off the BP meds when I went in for spine surgery 9 months after my bypass. My heart rate and BP was running so low it was freaking them out. They ran multiple EKGs before I went to the operating room. So we discontinued BP meds.

Then 2 weeks after my 3 level cervical fusion, I went to get up out of a chair and woke up on the floor. Thats when we discovered that I really do have low heart rate and bp. I still get black outs so I simply wiggle my feet for a few minutes before standing up and that regulates it.

I know it is low because my watch tracks my heart rate and I am regularly in the 30s and 40s while sitting. It is crazy how your body changes once the weight comes off.

Best of luck on your recovery and I am so glad that you are happy you did it. For me it was the best thing I ever did for myself.

I've never had high BP... but 2 days post op it sat round 190/110, we think due to pain, but I wasn't exactly climbing the walls. Since then I've had postural hypotension (ie it tanks when I get up from sitting and makes me dizzy). Weird things or bodies do!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
