Likelihood for complications?

Recommended Posts

Not sure how to word this.

How many sleevers have had no issues with any kinds of food, indigestion, heartburnd, GERD, etc. pre-op and remained the same post-op?

I've never struggled with anything like that but wanted to know the possibility of these afterwards.

Me! I didn't have those issues before and haven't had any issues afterwards. I'm currently just under 6 months post op. My surgeon did have me on a PPI for the first 3 months but now I'm fine without it. I've not had any problems with any certain foods either. Good luck to you!!!

I have not had those issues pre or post op. However, the possibility is there to experience one or more of them. Nothing that can't be dealt with.

I'm two years out, no issues before or after with food, Gerd, vomiting..etc. I had high blood pressure and sleep apnea before & those issues have resolved themselves. Struggling with weight gain but this too shall pass

I'm 3 years post op. I choose not to eat bread made with yeast or drink anything carbonated because they make me uncomfortable. They don't make my physically ill (nausea, vomiting, sliming, etc.), just uncomfortable.

I don't have any other issues with food. Before my operation I occasionally had mild reflux, due to a hiatal hernia which was fixed with my sleeve surgery. No more GERD post op. I haven't thrown up once post op. I was never nauseated. I don't have any problems with gas or indigestion or anything like that.

One of my brothers-in-law says that people in my family all have the stomachs of goats and the constitutions of cockroaches, and I think he's right. None of us ever get any kind of sickness from food, none of us ever throws up, none of us ever has any kind of digestive or elimination problems, and we rarely get any kind of disease at all. Other than the bread and carbonation issues, I've got the same set of non-problems post-op that I had pre-op :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
