Hi, New to this. I have done all my pre op appointments and have been approved for surgery for this Friday Nov 9th. I'm on my second week of my pre op diet. First week was 2 shakes and a high Protein meal. The first week I did pretty good, only slipped one day. This week I'm on all liquids, but I ate A piece of Baked chicken breast and green Beans for lunch . I've lost 12 pounds so far. My question is will this hurt my surgery? Should I tell the doctor? Do you all think I will be okay?

I have had no secrets from my team pre-op or post-op. I would have been freaked out to know that the person who was cutting into me made assumptions based on faulty or incomplete information because I wasn't honest with him. But that's me.

You'll probably get responses from people saying that it's no big deal, but if it were me, I'd tell them.

I understand how hard the pre op diet is im on it myself I'm also scheduled for 11/09. I've also cheated but have had A bowl of Soup at night.:/ I feel so guilty afterword but I'm starving. I've found that the type or Protein shake makes a big difference! They are a little pricey but help muscle milk ProSeries shakes have 40 grams of Protein and are thicker . Also I'm trying really hard to stay busy ( I painted and cleaned my house ) I would tell him . I plan on telling mine even tho I'm so ashamed of myself for cheating . Just start fresh every day .

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
