Sorry, 16 days not 9 days. Ever since the surgery my mind doesn't seem to be as sharp as it was before. I'm guessing it has to due with being on liquids only.

Stalls are fairly common. Just stick to the program guidelines (fluids, Protein, Vitamins, meal volume, exercise) and you should be back on the track soon. Someone on this website used the slogan "Embrace the Stall" to describe the experience.

Stalls during the first month post-surgery are very common (actually, stalls are *always* common). Most people do hit their first one within a month out of surgery. I had one during weeks 2 and 3. It broke during week 4, and I dropped 6-8 lbs within just a couple of days. As James said, just stick to your plan and the stall *will* eventually break.

I had one in week 3 and again in week 5. I'm a slow loser though, so when I drop I get excited if it is a pound. Everyone is different

Stalls are a part of losing

I seem to have a stall every few weeks, and although it is frustrating it is still overall loss

I also just learned my thyroid may have issues since my PTH levels are high. And that may why I have so many stalls even with working harder to lose faster

Oh goodness. It's not a stall. Your body body is still recovering from surgery and is gearing up to do what it is now supposed to do. TRUE Stalls last a min of three weeks. Anything else is just your body making necessary adjustments.

Stalls when working this program properly don't occur until months out. Notice I say properly. Following plan, moving around and exercising. Unless you have some underlying issues like @@RJC5197 mentioned.

I have what could be considered ZERO adrenal function. My adrenal glands have been blown out by 9 years of high dose prednisone. My metabolism is screwed. And guess what? 7 months out I've gone from surgery date 272 to 156.

Give yourself a break and don't fall prey to old thinking habits. You're on a whole new path now...

I have been thinking, maybe it is because I haven't been urinating enough. I only go once a day.

3 days with no loss is not a stall. You cannot expect to lose weight every single day it just does not work like that.

A stall is several weeks with no loss......Your body fluctuates daily so if you get to the point where the up and down drives you crazy then it is best to stay off the scale. Weight once a week or once every two weeks.

I was a daily weigher but had to train myself not to get upset when i saw the scale not moving or worse yet going in the wrong direction.

Be patient. Your weight did not come on in a couple of weeks or months and it wont come off that way either.

I lose 100lbs in the first 9 months and then it took 9 more months to lose my last 52. Those months were excruciating but nothing like maintenance. It takes constant focus.

I found myself getting frustrated with daily fluctuations as well. I stopped weighing myself so much and now I do it about once every 2 weeks or so. It made a huge difference to my mental health and I was able to stop focusing on food and scales and focus on living life again post surgery.

Hey Reddmaxx the stall will be ok you need to address urinating only once a day that's a problem in the makings! Just saying! That's more of a concern!

I am not getting enough Protein, that is why I am stalling. I have set alarms on my phone to remind me to eat.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
