Any other November sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi, New to this. I have done all my pre op appointments and I've been approved for Surgery and my surgery is Next Friday Nov 9. Im on a 2 week post op diet first week 2 shakes a day and a high Protein dinner. I did pretty good the first week; slipped one day. I am on my second week and only liquids but I had baked chicken breast and green Beans for lunch. I have lost 12 pounds so far. My question is will this hurt my surgery? Should I tell the doctor? Do you all think it will be okay?

hi I'm the 9th as well, and definitely nervous but excited.. please feel free to ask any questions and I'll try helping the best I can.. though I would like to go home same day I figure it's safer to stay the night and get close medical attention if needed..

Hey Paul12677

Thanks I think I'm going to stay the night . I've had a lot of feed back which is great because for a little while I felt really alone . I'm so happy that I found this site . Good luck to you !!

I'm scheduled for Nov. 21st. I'm not going to lie. I'm a lot anxious about post-opt.

I've read too many posts about complications and difficulties. Honestly, it sounds horrifying.

I live in Austin, Texas. Are there any support groups here?

Thanks.

I'm scheduled 11/8. I'm very nervous as well

I had mine on November 1. Surgery wise everything went well. The only pain I really felt was the gas that they put in you. I felt great days two and three. Day five may have been the worst. A lot of cramping a lot of gas and it was the first day I felt like I wanted to eat something. Good luck to everyone out there

My surgery is April 23, I feel a little lost, my doctor has not talked to me about post op procedures. Doctor hasn't done any lab work on me, i'm just suppose to go in the day of my surgery and thats it. Is that normal?

April 23rd next year? You have plenty of time for post op and blood work

I'm 11/8 and nervous of course. I had my gallbladder out last year which is a similar type procedure and recovery sucked for the first 3-4 days.

Now I'm freaking out because my period is about to start and this is not something I want to deal with on top of the surgery! Of all the times...ugh!

Also my Dr. Didn't put me on a preop diet, just liquids the day before. But tomorrow I'm doing shakes all day, then Monday the Clear Liquids, because I'm nervous about not doing the week of shakes before even though he said it wasn't necessary.

Anyway, good luck everyone! We can make it through this. The first few days will be rough, but after we'll be on our way to taking our lives back! ; )

Hi! I just had the surgery on November 1st. Good luck to you this month! This will be tough bc my family always gathers to eat. That's how we Celebrate and mourn. Not easy, but I will follow my diet to the letter. I am also going to 2 post op groups this week. I think I need all the support I can gather. Good luck, friends!

I leave November 28, surgery is on the 29th. I'm not scared just excited to get this done. It helps my daughter and I are going to Mexico together. If I was doing this alone I would probably be nervous.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
