I'm not even sure where to ask this, sooo...

Has anyone else noticed having mid-back hurts as you lose weight??? I've never had back problems before, but now....

Yes I have had significant back issues throughout the first month to month and a half of my surgery I think it is due to the fact that we have been cut through our abdominal wall and muscles I find that I frequently sit with a heating pad. Sleeved September 13th

I have read that we have to be careful that we are not miss diagnosing the back pain as it is also a symptom of kidney stones so make sure you were getting your Water intake

It could be the way you are sleeping. It can also be gallbladder or kidney - so be sure to check with your PCP.

Yes! I work on my feet all day. Never had back pain. Thought maybe since losing so much weight, my shoes fit differently causing the pain, so i bought new shoes. Still had pain. But only when on my feet a long time. I'm 12 weeks out. It has gotten a little better. I started strength training. That may be helping too. I can't wait the day it goes away. Good luck with yours. Keep us posted if you find out anything that helps.

I think @@KristenLe may have been right about the sleeping causing most of my pain because it seems to be gone now except the slight pain I have when I reach up for something and have to bend back a lil to bring it down. Feels like my spine is literally bending L shaped. I know its not my gallbladder - had that out in 2008, kidney's I'm pretty sure its not because its not low on my back its in the middle middle..? its just.. more annoying then painful I guess.

and maybe starting back on strength training would help it. I know where I'm going tomorrow after work :)

A girl that works in my physical therapist office told me its common after abdominal surgery to have back pain because your back is compensating for the lack of muscle strength in your abdomen while healing. She said she had a lot of back pain after getting her hernia taken out. I thought it was interesting.

Yes!! I was sleeved on 10/20 and have been having middle back pain almost every day. I will try the heating pad tonight. Thank you Raenh for asking the question!

Yes!

My Chiro explained that as the fat disappears the muscles have to readjust.

Mine got better after five days. Still gets cranky at about hour 14 of my waking hours.

I was just thinking about this because I started jogging and felt something kind of jerked out of place. I went to the chiropractor yesterday and my whole spine was out of alignment. I know it wasn't just from that, I did have some back problems before the weight-loss surgery. But with such a dramatic decrease in body mass in such a short period of time, definitely the body is working overtime, and some things sort of emerge from that. At 325 pounds my knees didn't hurt because I didn't walk very much. I started exercising after losing 124 pounds and found my knees were aching. I think some of this sort of just gets hidden underneath more severe issues-like in my case, I felt like I was almost too fat to move. I would break a sweat just going to the grocery store! Even with the occasional backache, I feel like I have my life back!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
