Except that you and @@RNMomof4 read it as the tiny, plastic suture (old-fashioned stitch) substitute while I read is as old-fashioned stitches. To me the word "sutures" means real stitches. My take on it probably is too narrow. And I can't fathom a surgeon placing a long strip of tape over steri-strips (if those are the tiny plastic suture bits). What do I know?

From my pre-op class they told us that they use dermabond (glue) on the small incisions and one small stitch that is under the skin and dissolvable on the larger one. Of course it is all surgeon's preference. Steri strips would be like little pieces of tape that would hold an incision together that has stitches under the skin. (That is how many ob docs close c section incisions). No stitches to actually remove.

I used coconut oil after my shower. I'm allergic to steristrips so I had to get them off asap. (My surgeon was ok with this) . I rubbed the coconut oil in as I was slowly pulling them off. First saturated the strips, then rubbed in between underside of strips and skin. It didn't hurt & the coconut oil is soothing to irritated skin

i think your description of steri strips/tape is what i had

the stitches dissolved

nothing doc needed to remove

the tape did come off gradually after showering a few days

that's my story and i'm stickin' to it :)

once it was almost totally off, i peeled it off

ahhhhh bud

you know a lot

you are very smart

after all, you like me as a computer buddy, right ;-)

the three (3) of us are just having a nice discussion

sounds like there isn't one "right" explanation

surgeons and NUT are all different

(sound like a familiar response)

we all listen to what are doc/NUT says

that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!!!!

For the steri strips, I helped them along after they started coming up but tried not to rush them. The worst incision site I had was right above my belly button-that one is bigger and redder, but that is probably based on location. This is also the only one that still has a scab. My surgeon has seen it and feels its healing just fine.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
