What Is Your Beverage of Choice?

For me warm Water with bullion cubes went down well. I couldn't tolerate sweet very well after all the shakes. I added unflavored Protein as well.

Thanks for these great ideas and tips! Your advice can definitely help out other WLS patients who are struggling to get in their Fluid intake or who just need a change!

Thanks for pointing out the value of trying fluids at different temperatures – sometimes room temperature drinks are easiest to get down, while ice Water can work for some patients, and Hot Drinks and broth present a welcome change!

With all of these ideas, I think there is a great take-home message: keep trying, because there has to be something you can tolerate well enough to hit your Fluid recommendations! Keep them coming!

I also LOVE my coffee. Favorite is a venti hot dark roast from Starbucks....5 Splenda and cream.

Your NUT allows caffeine? I've been off the stuff since March.

My NUT doesn't allow much in life but a breath of fresh air.

My surgeon was cool with my coffee.< /p>

Water, coffee, tea, Water, tea, water, oh and more water...

occasionally I slip up and steal a like 1/12th of a cup from work of pepsi... mostly for the flavor since I swirl it around until no carbonation. In no way am I encouraging this btw... just admitting it.

but mostly... water... tea... and coffee, oh and more water... which reminds me I need to get someone to change the water jug thingy to put on a new one.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
