Looking for buddy in the U.K. October sleevers

Recommended Posts

Hi. No offense to other countries but I would really like to find a support network of people who live in the U.K so that we can talk about foods etc that I can find in my local shops.

My surgery is on 30 October 2016. If you are in the U.K and have recently had or having surgery please get in touch.

Life's good thanks, I've had an amazing year with better results than I ever expected - I'm probably within 20lbs of deciding I am at my goal weight I don't know how much you have to lose but I had plenty and this was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Hopefully you are feeling good about your choice and you will be blessed with a pain free successful journey

I'm in Wiltshire, I went private through Spire Southampton. 5.5 stone might seem like a lot but the sleeve is a great tool and will undoubtedly help you. Where are do you live, are you going with the NHS or private?

I live in Kent and doing it privately. I am doing at a BMI hospital in Blackheath but that is only for the op, the rest of the appointment etc will be at the Orpington hospital. What part have you found the hardest

To be very honest I have had a very easy ride, I haven't had any real troubles I don't really have any hunger or particularly crave any foods, I had very little pain and was up and about within a couple of hours being back to my room and although I was signed off for two weeks I was back working from home in a few days. I still don't eat very much but am quite careful with what I do eat - I'm not a saint though I do occasionally have something sweet or a couple of glasses of wine. I'm struggling to tell you anything negative.

Hi there, I am in Scotland not far from Glasgow and am due to get my sleeve on 9th January - would love to have people that I could talk to who live in the UK who are going through the same things. I would really love a pen pal if anyone is up for it.

I had my surgery 4th Oct and haven't had the easiest time. Had my surgery done at Spire Southampton but the surgeon is making sure I get tests done to sort me out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
