"Gorged" on Mexican food last night....

Recommended Posts

I was having a bad couple of days, plus I quit smoking(!) 2 wks ago, so I decided I was gonna go stuff myself with Mexican food last night. Sounded and smelled sooooooooooo good. So I sit down with the full intention of ordering the cheesiest fried thing I could find. But then I remembered that I was only 'hurting' myself by giving in to that temptation.decision.gif I orded beef tacos instead and was just as happy. angel.gif I somehow managed to NOT eat the chips, which I also couldn't believe! The tacos finally come and boy, am I gonna let them have it! I dig in with gusto, enjoy every bite....and only managed to eat 1-1/2 tacos!! LOL I thought that was pretty funny. So that's how I gorge myself into oblivion these days....on 1-1/2 tacos. Gotta love it! This must be the "progress" of which they speak. wink.gif

And best of all, you're not smoking!! So proud of you. Way to go on the 1 1/2 tacos too -- I still can't do that (stop at a reasonable amt of MX). Mexican food is my downfall.

I know what you mean. I stuffed my self at Breakfast this morning by eating an entire banana. :) Silliness. I can't wait to get off mushies and try some MX.

Great job on the smoking issue: you are a brave and fabulous person!

Terry...LOL! As I was reading your post, I was thinking about my own Mexican "adventure" just two weeks ago. There I was, recovering from a flu and STARVING because I hadn't eaten very much during my illness. We go to a Mexican joint and I'm all ready to dive into a Chile Relleno platter (stuffed with 3 cheeses and chicken), rice and beans...the whole works!

What I ended up with was a strawberry margarita, a cup of black bean Soup and some guacamole! So much for my Big Mexican Gorgefest! LOL!

I do have to admit...as much as I love my new body and my healthier take on food...part of me misses the days of the 3-item Mexican platter, followed by the fried ice cream. Then I look at my toes (my TOES!) and I let the thought go...

Congrats on your experience!

Isn't that the truth!!! You hit the nail on the head. I miss certain things but all in all I am nothing but grateful!!

10# away from goal. OMG, you must be soooooo happy!!! Major congrats to you, my friend. Way To Go!!!

I read the title of this thread and immediately knew it was a "success story" as to a confession of being naughty. Congrats on not eating your way through a Mexican restaurant. I sooooo look forward to that day!

I can relate! I went to Carrabas a while back...had saved up ALL day to gorge by not eating anything. Ordered this wonderful chicken dinner. Four bites and it was doggie bag city!

LOL Kacee - I can get out of Carrabba's for $5 these days.... I order a cup of either Sausage/Lentil or chicken Soup. If I'm really feeling evil, I'll have an italian salad, too!!!

This is so funny. I had mexican food last night. 2 beers to start (sipped very slowly) had 2 tacos, a couple small spoons of chara Beans, no rice and only a few chips. I feel like a pig. I can't wait to eat even less. :whoo:

Hey Kacee,

I noticed that you had your surgery in Houston with Dr. Spivak. Was that at True Results? I also noticed that you have already had 3 fills. I had my 2nd one in mid July but have not had another one. What gives?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
