Post op fatigue after 2 months

Recommended Posts

I am 52, my sleeve was in August. I had no complications. I am still feeling very tired even though I take all my Vitamins. Yesterday I laid down for a bit at 3 pm and I did not wake up until 12 hours later :( I did not even wake up during that time. I am not new to fatigue as I had my thyroid removed last summer for cancer, but this is just ridiculous. I had more energy when I weighed 50 lbs more was raising a toddler and working full time . Yes, I was younger, but at 52 I should not be feeling like this. I recently saw my endo and she said my blood work looked good. I also make sure I am taking in the Protein and I drink plenty of Water. I am not sure what is going on. I would think that after 8 weeks I would have more energy.

i struggled with fatigue through month 3. and as counterintuitive as it sounds, what seems to have finally gotten me through is to literally just power through and amp up your exercise even when you feel too tired to exercise, do it anyway.

I'm no stranger to being fatigued, I have Fibro & Lymes disease.. Has your doctor(s) done any other kind of test.. Like what were the blood test looking for? Are you having any other symptoms? Foggy headed or achy? *shrugs* could be something totally unrelated to the wls.. G'luck!

I see my endo every 3 months and get blood work done to check thyroid hormone levels and she also checked B 12 and Vitamin d. She said all looked good. I have not felt normal since having my thyroid taken out last summer though.

Are you on any blood pressure meds. I had a similar issue about one month after surgery and it was because o was on blood pressure meds still and my blood pressure was too low. Once I stopped the meds my blood pressure went up and I was less fatigued.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
