How can I accelerate weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I am seven weeks out but only 26 pounds down (out of a total 75 pounds that I need to lose). I'm frustrated - the weight is crawling off at a very slow pace.

I am happy that I am moving in the right direction, but definitely thought that I would have lost more weight by now. I have an important event coming up in a couple of weeks and would like to do whatever is safely possible to accelerate my weight loss.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations/insights?

Thank you very much.

My advice?

Stay off the scale.

Follow your program.

Track your food.

Focus on getting in at least 64 oz of Fluid a day and reaching your Protein target.

Avoid added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), starches and fried foods.

Exercise when cleared.

Practice eating mindfully, eating slowly, taking small bites, and chewing thoroughly.

Did I mention staying off the scale?

Early on there is basically nothing you can do to make it faster if you are following the rules.

If you are eating carbs, stop. That is about the only thing you can do.

You have lost over 33% of your excess weight in only 7 weeks. Celebrate your achievement. Looking to accelerate things will only bring you down cos if you are self critical you will end up labelling yourself a failure when you are not. You are a winner.

Yep, as the others say, I think that so long as you are already doing the right things, just be patient, and progress will come. Don't try to do anything extreme with diet or exercise or you may damage your metabolism (or worse).

I know it SUCKS to have the weight loss slow down..but thats normal and healthy! As others have said keep working your plan. You can start working on toning if you're cleared for exercise though and that may make a bigger difference in what you see/feel than the numbers on the scale.

The lower the BMI, the slower the weight loss.

@@skinnyjeansatlast You think 26 lbs in 7 weeks is slow?? You're starting off at a lower BMI than most - you've lost more than 1/3 of the your excess weight already - that's not crawling! That's a good loss. As others said - there's nothing you can do to accelerate your loss (safely). Keep following your plan and go to your event happy with your loss.

Surgery date - I was fortunate in that my surgeon did not require the two week pre-op period - only 24 hours before surgery. Thank you!

You are doing great! If i were to hit the same percentage of weight loss it would be 70lbs and you would be giving me major high fives! But we would be in exactly the same place.

You need to think in terms of percentages rather than pounds. Celebrate those victories when the actual number doesnt feel as big to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
