I was banded in Mexico in July and I desperately need a fill. I live in Cincinnati OH and I am looking for a fill Dr. I am willing to travel. Please help.

What type of band did you receive? www.inamed.com is the website for the Lapband. You can go to their website and pull up a list of fill drs. But call the drs. direct to confirm if they accept patients banded by other drs. Currently this is the only type of band that you can find a U.S. dr. to fill. Any other type bands will have to be filled in Mexico (as they install and fill different types.) Good luck in your search.

Actually, some radiologists will fill the bands that are not yet FDA approved. How you would find them, I'm not sure.

There are also supposed to be some 'fill center's opening up to cater to Mexican Dr's patients. Is it Dr Ortiz who can help find them?? Someone help me here. :D

I know that Red River Radiology in Paris, Texas does do this.

I have the MidBand. I am willing to travel to have it done, but not back to Mexico. I have gotten terrible aftercare from my doctor, dr. Ponce de leon.< /p>

:D Sorry to hear this. I'm also sorry to tell you that finding aftercare/fill Dr.s is a necessity BEFORE being banded. So many will not touch you without an FDA approved band or if they did not do your surgery. It sounds as if Inamed won't be able to help you either. :) This is a sad, sad situation. You might find some help on Yahoo Groups by searching for Midband. I'm sure there is someone who will see you, but you put yourself at risk by not knowing how experienced or qualified they may be. :( I have heard these guys in Paris, Texas are excellent. There is SOO much more to banding than just getting a fill on occasion. I sincerely hope you are able to locate someone whom you can trust.

This is an excerpt from this person's website, who says she is very lucky with fills for her midband. Maybe she can point you in the right direction. :D

"Patients banded out of the USA may have a hard time finding a fill doctor. This could be made even more difficult if they do not have an FDA-approved band, and currently the only band that IS approved is the Inamed Lap-band. Bandsters are very lucky in my local area, because we have many options for after-care - radiologists who will do fills, surgeons who will see patients banded out of the country, etc. But you may not be so lucky, so do your research FIRST before flying anywhere for surgery!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
