Just tired....

Is anyone else as tired as I am of throwing up, shoulder pain and the loss/gain of weight?

I've had my band for quite some time and I have litterly had to start the whole process over again and again. When I first was banded I lost almost 80 lbs. I was super excited and felt amazing. Then life kicked me in the a$$. Husband lost his job, lost our insurance and daughter got pregnant all in about 6 mo. With in that time Stress took over my life and I gained almost all my weight back. STRESS EATING around the band is what did me in. Maintained my weight gain for 2 years. Went back to dr after we got insurance again and started from scratch. Fill, Pre op diet. 1100 cal diet. Started losing again. Lost almost all I regained until I hit a stopping point. Wasn't losing for anything. And boom. Got hit with the worse stress ever. Lost my dad on January 7 of 14, lost my father in law January 9 of 14, and found out I was gonna be a Nana again. So the weight was slowly comn back. Yep u guessed it. Constantly getting sick, the shoulder pain from drinking, gaining weight and getting tight. Finally I had them take all but 3cc out of my band. I've gained all my weight back and at 1 point I didn't care. I was able to eat and not get sick, able to drink and not get the pain. I was being selfish. Well now I'm having the"fat girl panic attacks" at night. Those dreaded ones about having a heart attack and not surviving. I'm now to the point of having this out and doing a revision. I just want to feel normal.

Sounds like a lot of stress in your life and it obviously your trigger. Do you go to any stress management or support groups or even some yoga classes at your local gym. I speak with a therapist about any and everything. It really helps me with all the other shit.

I agree with the poster above. You need to work with a therapist to not stress eat. It's not your band my dear, but how you deal with stressful periods in your life. The band can't and won't be a magic wand. It's a tool and has its limits. You need to work on other things that will help you be successful.

Sorry for the preachy tone...but I've been there and done that. I see a therapist and have been for more than two years to work on the real weight issues because I know that band won't 'cure' what ails me.

Good luck..let us know what you wind up doing.

I agree with above re: stress and seeking therapy, support for your stress eating. I too struggled with it. I would be exploring that left shoulder pain..it could be your band. I was banded in 2007 and had left shoulder pain for the next 9 years....there are studies now that show this can happen due to the placement in the body of the band. It can "ride up" and irritate the phrenic nerve under the diaphragm. It happened to me when I ate too much...or interestingly, if I didn't eat for a long time...I had my bad removed 3 months ago (for other reasons) and the shoulder pain has disappeared. So your band may be telling you you are eating too much at a sitting.... again seek that therapy/support for stress!

Update. My dr drained my band as of Wednesday. Said it was am irritation to my outer pouch. I inky has 3.75cc in it. We are going to wait a few days to see what happens then go from there.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
