Cincinnati Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I talked to my insurance co. on Friday. In order for them to cover anything..I need to use an in network doc. I found Dr Lusco and associates in Louisville and contacted them. First step is attending a seminar on Nov. 10th. I've already been to one, so I know what they are like unless this one is different. There is one place in Louisville called Right Weigh...they say they don't charge any up front fees if you are covered by insurance.

Dr. Curry was $13,000.00. That includes two years of fills and followup with his dieticians. I think they have a great program and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Hi All! Can anyone reccommend a Dr to me. I use to travel to NKY where I had my procedure done (1 hr each way), just found out he took a permanent leave of absence. I moved to West Chester (Liberty Township) Ohio about a year ago. Looking for both a Dr & Support Group.

Thanks!

Hi, my name is Leah. I just completed my nutrition, exercise, and mental health evaluation at Dr. Kerlakian's office. How was the approval process for you all? What was the purpose of the 165 question test for the mental health eval? I'm just curious, because I noticed the test was repetitive.

I am really happy with Dr. Kerlakian and am hoping to have the lap band done in August. I live in Lebanon, Ohio. I would love to talk to anyone who is willing to share their stories.

Thanks,

Leah

Hi Speed. Just wanted you to know that I see Dr. Kerlakian at Good Samaritan Weight Loss Clinic. I've lost 40 pounds since my surgery in August.

We have support group meetings the first Tuesday every month at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. If you want to go to our lap band meeting, please let me know and I can give you more information.

I want to let everyone know that I have Dr. Kerlakian as my doctor and I have been very impressed with his care. He has been very kind and considerate through my journey and really cares what happens with me and my weight loss. He is very down to earth, and knows what he is doing. I would suggest making an apt. with him if you are in the Cincy area and are looking for a surgeon he is a great one to see!

Hello! I was banded on 6/8/09 by Dr. Curry. I have been VERY happy w/ my results!

A little bit about my journey...

I decided to get banded the beginning of April '09 and went to see my PCP on 4/19 to get the ball rolling. I went to seminars at Mt Carmel West, OSU, and w/ Dr. Curry. While going thru this process, I found out that any type of wls is not covered by my insurance. The cost of surgery at Mt C was $17,500 and at OSU it was $22,900. Surgery w/ Dr C was $12,999 which included all pre-surgery classes and lab work and 2 years of fills. Even w/o the cost factor, I would have chosen Dr C. I met w/ Dr C and his staff on 5/26 and 5/27 and scheduled my surgery for 6/8/09. Surgery and recovery were a breeze! My weightloss has been slow and steady. I am very pleased w/ my results!

As of my 7 month BANDiversary, I have lost 61lbs and 42+ inches. I could never have done this w/o the support of my hubby, family, friends, colleagues, and a wonderful surgeon/staff.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
