I am 10 days post-op as well. I have been getting 64 fl oz of Water in every day since Day 3 post-op. It takes me all day, though. I have noticed in the past few days that I can take bigger sips (actually approaching what I would call a gulp now).

I'm not really hungry ever, either. I was taking in about 40 grams of Protein each day until yesterday, and I have graduated to 50 grams. That comes in the form of one Protein shake (30 grams), one 4 oz serving of Cream of chicken Soup with 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein powder (10.5 grams), and 1 cup of broth with 1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein Powder (10.5 grams). Other than that, I really don't "eat" anything else in a day.

Yesterday, I got to 325 calories which is the most I have been able to get in since the surgery. My nutritionist said not to expect to top 500 calories until I move past purees (which isn't until Day 21).

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Im guessing I'll need to invest in a Protein powder. Thanks for the information!!!

Protein powder is your best friend. I like the premier Protein shakes, too. I was just allowed to move to those yesterday, (hence the extra 10 grams of protein) and they are a welcome addition to my "food" repertoire!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
