For shine people though it's very hard to prepare meals ahead of time. Hubby and I are otr truckers and I can't just..meal plan and cook a ton for the week, that's why I really look at the carbs and sodium and Protein on my pre packaged meals.

This was a great thread. I too have found myself to be cold when I was always hot. Regarding eating what you want, I completely understand the predicament. It was easier sticking with mushy foods. I plan to keep carbs below 50, stay high with Proteins and not have food with added sugars. I've been in a week stall on the scale but feel loss in inches as the clothes and fit don't lie. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions and advise.

@@gustavio someone posted a while ago about how ziploc sells 4oz containers that have a 2oz line marked on them to measure. And they would fill it up 2oz veggies and 2 oz meat... and have a variety of those filled up for the week so u don't get sick of eating the same thing. You got this! Avoid the frozen food aisle if possible. You invested a ton in this already so invest just a wee bit more time and make your meals for the week :-)

i use those 4oz containers and freeze the meals in them. It's convenient and my freezer looks like I have a baby food factory since they are so small.

@@gustavio,

Congratulations on your surgery and on getting to this point in your diet!

The best thing to eat is what works for you. How can you get in your Protein and stick to your calories while sticking to your budget and not spending longer than you want in the kitchen and still enjoying your diet and life a little? It’s up to you!

Yes, it’s probably “best” to eat all fresh foods, but for most of us, that’s just not an option. We don’t all have enough time to go grocery shopping and cook a lot while working, taking care of family, working out, and fulfilling whatever other obligations we have in life.

Sure, frozen meals are fine. Just read the labels to make sure you know your portion sizes and are getting the Protein you need. Lean Cuisine and other frozen meals can help you keep your meal plan interesting and easy, which are both important for the long run.

In general, I would suggest thinking about food choices as a combination of choosing what you want versus making the healthiest choice. So, if you want a burger, choose a ground turkey patty on lettuce instead of fatty beef on a bun, or choose whole wheat crackers instead of refined white crackers. Even with frozen meals, some have whole grains and a serving of vegetables, while others have refined grains and more starch than veggie.

Yes, it is normal to be cold after weight loss surgery. You are not eating very much, which means you are not giving your body much fuel to burn and keep yourself warm. You will continue to be colder than you used to as you lose body fat, since fat helps insulate you. Just think how much fun it will be to buy new sweaters in smaller sizes, and to enjoy summer a little more instead of dreading the heat!

What about getting a cooked rotisserie chicken and making meals for the week with It?

Protein, Protein, Protein!! I love Jerky and some cheese. I also buy a roasted turkey breast and slice it up and then chop it, mix with some buffalo sauce and a touch of Marie's Blue Cheese and eat it that way. Also for crunch Kay's Naturals have lo cal (120) Snacks with 12 grams of protein in Chili Nacho flavor. Finally, Caveman foods has great Protein Bars (18 gr) in great flavors. Bottom line is you got to find what works for you

When I get to that stage, im going to cook like a professional chef, small portions of deliciousness. I'm going to make it count, no freezer stuff for me, im going to get fancy. I'm going to use delicate plates, huge tastes, small portions.

I bought really pretty tiny bowls and plates. I'm doing the same as you - I want to eat something delicious if I can only eat a small amount.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
