I turn 50 in March so decided to go ahead and join this group. I'm a month out after surgery and I can hardly eat or drink. How much are most of you eating? Thanks for the help!

Congratulations on your surgery, and welcome to the group.

I'm also new here and just learning, so I don't have an answer. Just wanted to say Hello!

So far looking like Dr. Illan. I haven't made a final decision yet. His office has offered me my surgery date and I'll know by this time tomorrow what I'm going to do.

How was Dr. Alvarez? How are you feeling a week out? Still on Clear liquids?

I'm almost 4 weeks out on soft food stage. I had to go to Mexico cause my insurance didn't cover. Had to do a lot of research. Everyone calls him Dr. A. He is one of the top Bariatric doctors in the world. It was a great experience. But know that I'm eating more substance I feel like a have something caught in my chest a lot. I'm trying to figure out if I'm eating to fast or to much or what. No one answered here so I guess I will email my Dr. I've lost 20 pounds since surgery. No predict cause my BMI was not quit 32. It's not super easy but it's worth it. A lot of the problems are in our heads. It's an adjustment.

I'll be 50 in may. I am just over a month post-op and I've lost 25 lbs. It's been a good experience so far. I'm eating about 1/2 to 3/4 cup , 4 or 5 times a day. Still on soft foods ... that feels safe right now. Great to see all the rest of you 'almost 50's'

I was sleeved aged 59 in Glasgow, August 2016 and have lost 50 lbs. I'm a slow loser and am struggling to quit wine! I get that choked feeling when I eat too fast and that can lead to eating beyond full which is uncomfortable. I also think my metabolism is out having yoyo dieted for too many years! Good luck x

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
