Real time experience...

Recommended Posts

I had my RNY Monday so as I lie in the hospital bed I thought I'd off my real time experience.

First of all, YAY...I DID IT!

Now, I wasn't prepared for the pain I've been in. They gave me a PCA pump with Dilaudid which barely gave me coverage. Now they've changed me to Oxycodone which helps until thee very last hour. I've done well tolerating my small sips of Water and Protein Shake. The pain is coming from all the air they inflated me with. Unfortunately, is not the type of gas you can just let out...I wished it was that easy. The important thing you can do is MOVE, MOVE, MOVE. Trust me, it really helps! Ok...I'll post as I have updates. Hugs to you all!

Glad you are doing well, had mine done Monday around 2pm. Feeling great. I unfortunately got hiccups, ohhh that hurts other than that. A little sore but doing pretty good. G8rgrl72 prayers going up for you.

One thing I found really helpful is to ask for an abdominal binder. It works wonders!!

I had bypass 2 weeks ago (9/19/16) and I will tell you the gas pains were with me up until a week ago. I felt extremely tired and didn't want to do anything, but this second week I feel amazing and back to normal! I also had many breakdowns about not being able to eat anything I wanted, and I will also tell you it gets better each day :)

I actually had second thought many times throughout my 2 wk preop liquid phase. I wondered if I could really do it or not. I pushed through and jumped in with both feet and did it. I can't honestly say that I made the right decision yet as it is too early to tell. Last night I ran a 102.4 temp and have gained 5 lbs in 24 hours. I believe the fever was a result of a virus lurking around instead of it connecting to my surgery. As far as the weight gain, I have no idea....I look 8 months pregnant....and feel it too. I'll post more updates on my experience. We will get through this together!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
