Sad but nothing to do with bypass

Recommended Posts

Here was my plan.... I was in school full time so I left before my surgery now I decided I want to move in a different direction of schooling and it would be online. Well with doing online I could get a full time job. Well I have applied everywhere and can't get one I am a hard worker. So I can't understand why no one wants me to work for them. My resume is perfect and been checked my a professional. I have gotten three interviews but all chosen by others. Is it bc I'm still fat? My answers to the questions arnt good enough? Or they pic their friends and family members over me.... It's just really sad iv been looking for a month everyday applying to 3 or more jobs a day :(

It's just a really horrible time economically, hang in there, something will open up, my husband was out of work for 6 months.

Have faith that you will find the right job, not just a job. Those positions may be opening up because the job wasn't what was advertised, the boss may be awful, or any number of reasons. Just keep looking and stay positive.

After graduating from college, I looked for a job but it was in the middle of an "engineering depression". Over 6 months I sent out 500 resumes and I visited around 300 companies in person. Nothing, NADA. Then by chance my future brother-in-law obtained a job and recommended me also. I received an interview and a job offer and worked for four decades before I retired.

Lessons learned:

* It is probably not you but a sign of the times. We are still in a recession, so keep trying.

* Expand your horizons. I focussed solely for work in California at the time. But the recession was localized to mainly California. If I had included other states, I might have been more successful. Perhaps there might even be a position overseas for you.

* When you go to an interview, be professional. Dress for the occasion. Do advanced research of the company prior to the interview. Know more about them than the interviewer. Be able to explain how you could fit in and your fine attributes.

* Obtaining your first job in a profession is extremely important. Because it is a transition from academia to the real world. All subsequent employment depends on it because many companies require experienced employees. So keep trying.

* In some positions, large companies have internship programs such as summer aids. This is a way to get your foot in the door and gain experience.

Over my career, I went from one who was applying for a job to one who hires. I hired around 30-40 engineers, scientist and technicians over my career as one of my supplemental duties.

I hate to say this but a month is not a long time compared to what I have been seeing with my friends and my husband.

It is a rough time to find jobs and because there are so many looking they can take extra time and be very picky.

I am disabled (not officially because i have been denied twice and was waiting on a court date when i could not wait any longer). So i started my own consulting business and found a client that i knew in a previous role which allows me to work from my home daily.

I am hoping it turns into a much longer term role for me.

My husband applied for 20+ jobs over a period of 6 months before finally a friend of his recommended him at his work. Prior to that my hubby had exactly 0 interiviews. This is a guy that never missed a day of work in 27 years and had exceptional tenure at the 2 jobs he had during that time.

It just takes time, patience and a constant focus but it will happen.

Network! Find a professional organization or attend seminars. At times, the local unemployment office will sponsor seminars for business professionals on various topics. Add this to your arsenal. I work in HR and many positions are filled by referrals, so get to know people and don't be afraid to say, I'm in the market :) Find out where professionals in your field hang out and start hanging out. It's not always what you know, but who you know.

Finally, be patient. As stated, the economy is not great and is worse for some professions. Not sure of your field, but do consider all the recommendations including expanding your search area. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
