Can anyone still gulp water?????

Recommended Posts

I just relized when I drink I am taking big gulps of Water, does this mean anything is wrong? This might sound like a silly question, but I am very alarmed. THANKS:confused:

I have had one fill and very little at that, Doc said my band was pretty tight as it was. When it comes to eating I still stay with 3 to 4 oz and I am full.

Yes I can still get a pretty good gulp of Water in but I have not been filled yet. I am trying to just take sips of water all day long. Check with your doctor if you're really concerned.

take care,

I haven't had a fill yet as I was just banded on the 25th but I was surprised that after the first couple days I could still gulp Water. The more viscosity my liquids have the slower I have to go but water just slides on through. I was pretty alarmed at first too because I thought 'oh great, so will everything else' but that hasn't been the case. Don't worry, I think it's pretty normal.

Now that I have restriction I can gulp Water on an empty stomach. If I have eaten it will come straight back up.

I have had 2 fills and I still have NO PROBLEM gulping Water. I actually tend to water load right before I eat so that I get my water in and also it seems to help the food go down easier if I drink a lot before not during of course. I heard that wetting your throat before you eat helps you not slime.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
