October 2016 Bypass Buddies?

Recommended Posts

  • Tomorrow is my big day 10/14/16 a fresh new start in life, not nervous just ready to begin this new journey. 5 day liquids was a breeze since I prepared myself, no food in the house, cabinets were cleaned out, only have broth, sugar free Jello, ice pops, crystal lite, and Premier Protein Shakes!!!. Looking forward to running and chasing my grandkids, going to the amusement parks, and doing all of the things that I cant do in this state. I pray all goes well for all of us scheduled this month, and look forward to sharing experiences. #imwiththewinninglosers

Received my insurance approval letter today. Just waiting to hear from Dr. A's surgery scheduler. To return my call. I am a bundle of emotions! Excited, nervous, second guessing my decision. Oh my!

Oh ok. I thought for a second we might of had the same Doctor! That is so exciting that you were approved! I feel exactly the same way as you! My surgery is scheduled for 10/26 and I feel like I'm on a roller coaster!!! One minute I'm so excited and confident, then the next I'm second guessing myself. Plus I'm really nervous for the surgery

Surgery date 10/17. Started my 5 day liquid diet today. But I just cheated with some garlic bread and cheese. I feel awful. Any advice? Would that affect my surgery?

The purpose of the pre-op diet is to shrink your liver so that surgery is safer. You need to go into ketosis for this to happen and that means no carbs. It's very important that you stick with the diet from here on. Some have had surgery cancelled due to their liver not shrinking enough. It's not worth chancing.

Hi KristenLe. Yes. I totally understand. Second day of pre-op. Did much better. Having all the clear liquid I can and keeping myself busy unpacking and organizing the new place. Seems to help distracting me from wanting to eat. Its not easy but I keep reassuring myself is going to be all worth. Looking forward to a healthy life.

October 7 was my day 3 weeks post op tomorrow. Down 15 lbs. Had lapband revision. Sooo glad I had it done. Lapband had eroded into stomach and was pull port in with it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
