Attitude Problem

Recommended Posts

This is a weird topic I find the more weight I lose the more of an ass I become . I find it's like my brain has changed also for example I started not to hold my tongue and say what I feel

I'm at the 6wk mark I lost about 50+ pounds

Has anyone else have this issue ?

It happens to most people on a low carb diet. Your brain fires a lot faster off carbs. Which is one of the reasons I always kept coming back to low carb eating even before surgery. It is good for business, staying sharp.

@@Bald Mike It could also be the hormones that are released as you burn / lose fat. What makes some of us moody bitches might make you an ass! :-) Although I don't see anything wrong in saying how you feel. Congrats on your weight loss so far - that's excellent!!!

There's a difference between speaking one's mind and being inappropriate or nasty or humorless or whatever else. Not that I'm pointing a finger at you, @@Bald Mike. I'm don't know in which direction your changes are taking you. Some asses are cute.

I get moody and bitchy often. My hubby just had Surgery too, so some days it's not much fun here at home. We give each other a break, walking helps me sometimes. Yes I talk to myself as I walk...it is ok though, it's part of the journey.

You are doing great. Are you hitting the gym yet? It helped me deal with the changes. BTW, the amount of testosterone stored in fat is substantial. Testosterone increases does increase aggression. So might be a link. Or you might be dealing with some old emotional issues and the physical changes are bringing up some latent issues. My suggestion is to start ramping up the muscle building exercise, see if it helps. In a month, if everyone still thinks you are being a jerk, work on the emotional side.

That is interesting.....I have never heard of this. Although I always speak my mind so it would be nothing new for my family and friends. It could be your Hangry---hungry/angry as your body is getting used to having less food in your system. Do you exercise? I always find when I am in a bad mood a good workout/run helps.

This post makes me feel better. I don't know if my mood stabilizer isn't working or if it's hormones or if it's low carbs, but the grouchies feel like they're always about to get the best of me. Phew. It's normal!

I mentioned this on another post, but I told my husband a week or so ago that as I lose fat I am releasing hormones, so if he notices any moodiness, that is why. He said, "So that's why you've been so mean to me lately!" :o

I've had the same issues as you Mike. Im also at the 6 week mark and have lost 50+ pounds. My temper has been very short at times and I get annoyed easily. I honestly believe that it is the rush of testosterone coming back into my body. When we're heavier, testosterone levels seem to be lower. As you lose weight, those levels increase. I've been doing a lot walking and low resistance exercises to work off some of the aggression. The good news is that it has gotten better, but it's definitely something I have to remain cognizant of around my wife and kids. Otherwise, I can turn into a total A-Hole. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
