Pre weight loss no ambition

Recommended Posts

So in the first month I loss the half of what they require of me to lose. Surgeon would like me to lose more and so do I. But as of lately I have no ambition no motivation because it hurts so much to move. I lost the weight last month by monitoring what I put in my mouth only. But I pray I'm able to get these knee injections because then I'll be able to do resulting in me losing more weight. What can I do to get start my motivation again to want to lose weight? Even though the weight that I've lost (10 lbs.) is no where near where I want to be. I weigh 417 standing at 5'6" please any advise would be helpful.

If mobility is an issue, there are chair exercises you could try that wouldn't have you putting your weight on your knees. Go to youtube and search for chair exercise videos and chair dancing.

@@determined1LD What about swimming or Water exercise (easy on the knees)? You can probably lose without exercise however - by reducing calories - eating high Protein and low carb. Write a list of all the things you want to do when you lose weight (play with kids/grandkids, kayak, wear a sexy dress and heals, paddle board, etc.) and keep it where you can see it - that should help with some motivation! If you keep asking yourself "why bother?" (like I did) - then list all of the responses to that (my health, so I can improve my mobility / less pain, so I'll be around to see my children marry, graduate high school, etc.).

Stay strong!!!!

I would try Water aerobics it works really well for people who have limited mobility due to joint issues

I guess all I can say is sometimes you have to reach down deep and push yourself. You have to motivate yourself and want this so that you can be healthier. I have had multiple knee surgeries and problems so I do understand where your at. Part of this stage of the journey is to see if you can comply with what is coming. Yes to help with the liver and other things but part of it is also to show if you can do it or not. Yes even with the weight off there are still those cold wet days where my knees are throbbing. Try to look at is as a challenge. There are also many other forms of exercising, I find an exercise bike works well on bad knee days.

Hi there,

To be honest with you, sometimes you just have to find that motivation within yourself and then just push and push no matter what. I will never forget the day last December when I finally got on the scale and saw almost 400 pounds looking back up at me. I knew that my weight would be in that ballpark, but to see it was to make it real. I was miserable. I travel a lot for work, and I was starting to have trouble walking to make the connections in the Atlanta airport. Even going to the bathroom was starting to become a chore that it shouldn't have to be. And perhaps the biggest issue was that I was starting to avoid my friends because I was so embarrassed of the shape I had let myself get into.

As of today, I have lost 95 pounds pre-op. My surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday, and I am going to use this sleeve as a tool to anchor the second half of my weight loss and help me to maintain a healthy weight afterward. But all of it is a daily struggle. I chose to stop eating carbs. I chose to cut out alcohol. I chose to get up and moving. I chose to only eat 1200 calories per day.

I understand mobility issues, and, in terms of exercise, you can only do what you can do. But food wise, we always have control if we choose to own that. I am addicted to overeating and carbs. I know that, and I am going to have to live with it and control it for the rest of my life, or, sleeve or not, I'll end right back up at that December day weighing almost 400 pounds.

That's my motivation. And, hard as it is some days, I will stick to my plan and I won't let food rule my life any more...

All my best to you!

I have alot of issues with my legs and my back. Working out in the gym just isn't working for me. I'm doing Water arobics on my own cause right now I can't keep up with the classes. I move for 10 minutes then I use Water weights for 10 minutes. I do this for at least an hour. When my legs start hurting (and they do) I get in the deep end of the pool, hold on to the side of the pool and move there. This way my feet aren't coming into contact with the bottom of the pool. This helps me alot. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
