Final 12 Days before Surgery

Recommended Posts

I would do the liquid diet. 3-4 Protein shakes a day, lots of Water. sugar free drinks no caffeine. That should help you lose and help shrink your liver. Hope this helps having my surgery on 27th also dr did not say to lose weight just start liquid diet on the 18th.

Good luck

I don't have an exact date yet, but surgery is about three or so weeks away. My doctor had me start the pre op diet Monday. Six days in and I've lost 13 pounds!!

My pre op diet is two Protein shakes a day, and one SMALL meal of 4 ounces of a lean meat and two cups of non-starchy veggies. And of course lots of water!!!!

I'm having RNY on the 26th. I started my preop diet on the 13th. It was difficult at first. I now understand head hunger. Now, 5 days in, I really don't get it anymore. Good luck to you all that are just starting it! See y'all on the Loser's Bench!

I am having surgery on Thursday 9/22.

I am currently in my pre op diet, which has been SOOOO hard. I'm just hungry and I want everything I can't have. I wasn't told I had to lose any weight before surgery, but that my diet was to help shrink my liver and was better for a healthier surgery. I have been doing okay, but I am using MyFitnessPal App, to track what I eat and all of the nutritional info. Well, every time I turn around its telling me I have had too many carbs. So it's hard. Does anyone know what our goal for crabs and sugar is per day?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
