Attention Deficit and VSG

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve surgery on Tuesday August 9th, and returned to work 2 weeks later. Before surgery I was on the highest dose of Concerta and it was an extended release. I have been struggling at work and school for the last two weeks. I was finally able to speak with a pharmacist to discuss how my new pouch absorbs my meds. I am now going to take immediate release, and hopefully this will get me back to where I was before surgery. Today, I am speaking with my boss and she is stating that I am off my A game and concerned. I have openly discussed my struggles with medications, recent surgery and life changes. Am I not allowed to be a little off my game as i understandable readjust to my new life? Should I request more time off? I thought I was really doing my best. When people went back to work, did you feel off and slowly getting back to normal?

I don't know about Attention Deficit but I was a bit fuzzy and unfocused for a few weeks post-op. I just chalked it up to anesthesia, low carbs, and generally recovering from surgery.

I was sleeved on 8/8 and also have ADHD. I've noticed that my Adderall was pretty much the only thing that made me feel normal after surgery. I'm on 10mg of instant release. Definitely give that a shot as the extended might not be absorbing correctly.

Thank you, I am hopeful that it will be okay. I am still waiting on my meds to show up and get back on my "A" game. It's sad how insensitive people can be, and lost a lot of respect for my boss after today.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
