Constant Nausea

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. I've had constant nausea since they day of surgery. I can't drink anything without feeling nauseous. I don't actually throw up, thankfully. However with the lack of appetite from the surgery and the constant nausea...I'm having a hard time getting in food and drink. How long does this last? I went and bought a bag of Sonic ice because it's like hospital ice. Eating ice doesn't make me as sick as drinking...and at least I'm getting fluids in. I can't drink any Protein shakes....so I'm lucky to get 30-40 grams of Protein per day. :(

Are you still on pain meds? They will make you nauseous.

I have anti-nausea meds. When they were giving them to me in my IV at the hospital, they were working. They don't do anything now. And I haven't taken any pain meds in over a week and a half. :( I have no idea what's causing it but it's so very frustrating.

The crushed ice is a good idea so that you can get some fluids in, but you should call your surgeon's office and let them know that you are suffering from nausea. Although everything might be okay, it is best to have them check you out - or at least give you guidelines as to when to go see them. Your number one priority right now is to keep from getting dehydrated. Sometimes that in itself can cause nausea.

I had a lot of problems drinking Water after surgery and drank Powerade zero for awhile. I tolerated it better and it has electrolytes in it. I think G2 is another like Powerade zero.

Anyway, get a call in to your surgeon's office. I hope everything resolves itself soon.

I do Vitamin Water Zero... the Acai Blueberry tastes really good to me.

So now it's even worse...I can't eat or drink anything without feeling extremely nauseous and earlier today I threw up foam multiple times and it scared me. :(

I just had surgery on 7 September. I was nauseous the first couple of days. My dietician told me that could happen. She told me to focus on getting fluids in for the first week and not to worry about Protein until next week. I didn't have nausea today and I can handle Protein. Be careful because anxiety can cause nausea as well. I don't know about u but I overthink everything and worry too much. Just a thought

Hi

I am 4 weeks out and nauseous too. It comes and goes. I take the meds for it sometimes.

I had the foam twice. Once it felt like something was stuck. The dr said either I ate too fast or I drank too much before I ate. It's not a problem. Just gross.

Hang in there. I used to love Water now I have to drink it mixed with something to get it down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
