Crushed Warfarin/Coumadin is Nasty. How do I hide the taste?

I am 2 days sleeve post op and have to start back on my regular 10 mg/day dose of Warfarin. (I have a blood clotting disorder.) So far, I've tried the crushed pill in yogurt and chocolate pudding. Both made my tongue burn and were just generally disgusting. What other liquids/foods have people tried to disguise their meds? Remember, I'm still on liquid diet and can only have yogurt, Soup and pudding for foods.

I am 7 days postoperative on puréed but allowed to take my pills whole . I put them one at a time whole in yogurt. They slide right down. Call your dr see if u can take them whole

how large is the pill? you may be able to take it whole by now. Otherwise, I'm afraid you will just have to deal with the taste until you can take them whole. The yogurt and pudding are the best options for masking the taste but honestly, drugs tend to have a bitter taste anyway (which is part of the reason we take them in tablet or capsule form so you don't taste it) and nothing will completely take that away.

Have you tried to take them without crushing? I never had to crush any of my meds.

I am a nurse practitioner and have to ask if your doctor told you to crush Coumadin? I don't think its supposed to crushed and may affect the absorption...

I was thinking the same thing. If it absorbs too fast your INR levels will be bouncing all over.

My doc's rules are no whole pills for 30 days after surgery. I think he believes the sleeve is too delicate for whole tablets.

From day one, I was allowed whole pills. Never gave me an issue. Only pill I had to change was my multi Vitamin because it was too big to swallow comfortably.

QQ. To all post op gastric sleepers, as far as crushed pills I have been told I have to crush for 7 weeks. Any thoughts on the best way to hide the awful taste besides yogurt and Jello? I can't have sugar. I already tried the sugar free Jello and puked.... PLEASE HELP

I crush my trazadone nightly and mix with applesauce. I hate it but any other way made me sick. I can eat it pretty fast then I go Kay down because my stomach really rumbles after that

Someone here suggested cool whip and it worked! A teaspoon.. make a hole cover it and down it goes no taste
