WEEK 3.5 POST-OP GASTRIC SLEEVE

Recommended Posts

My name is Nena and I am currently in week 4 of Post-op. I've lost over 28lbs and have so much energy! My surgery was performed in Lubbock,TX by Dr David Syn and he did an amazing Job!! I've begun to stall some it seems and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this around the 1 month mark. Still in some discomfort, however, do not regret this decision one bit! This Southern Belle loves to cook (and EAT) THIS WAS MY LAST HOPE TO BE HEALTHY :)post-299296-1472739471082_thumb.jpg

Congrats !!!!!

Yes.....most of us have delays in our weight loss at different intervals. 3-4 weeks is a fairly common time for the first one to hit.

Stay strict with your plan and keep exercising and the delays will pass and weight loss will continue.

I find that hopping on the scale every morning helps to keep me focused on avoiding the pitfalls that can derail weight loss.

I am at four weeks. I have found that I have about four consecutive days of losing and then three or four days of maintaining. I picture a rubber band getting stretched and then pulling in, over and over. I'll take it as long as it keeps moving forward. Congrats, and good luck.

I am at three days post op but I read on a forum that somewhere between week 3-4 most people hit a bump that is completely normal. It just means your body is freaking out at the amount of weight lost in a short period of time. However it quickly realizes you are still eating and feeding it and it starts again( the weight loss) congrats on the 28 lbs

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight you will experience stalls. Almost everyone experiences a stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program. Focus on getting in all of your Protein and fluids. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Exercise when cleared. Stay off the scale. And, Embrace the Stall

I'm at 4 weeks post-op and having a few issues that I pray are temporary. I can't stand Water, flavored or plain. I'm drinking, but it is awful tasting to me. I can't stand the same Protein Shakes I drank pre-op and yogurt is sickening to me. I am eating cream Soups with Protein added, but only because I have to eat something. I lost 40 lbs. before wls and only 10 since. I didn't expect it to come off quickly, but I didn't expect food to be repulsive either.Acid reflux keeps me awake at night and my stomach aches most all the time, not hunger just dull feeling. I kow this is probably not too abnormal, but need encouragement that it will pass.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
