20 Mile Run!

Recommended Posts

Had to post here, because I'm just so proud of myself. Yesterday was my longest training run for my full marathon. 20 miles! I know I will have another six to go on race day, but I'm counting on adrenaline and no need to "save" anything to carry me the extra distance. On training runs you have to hold back a little to avoid injury and to make sure you can recover. On race day, I am putting it all out there and if I have to crawl across the finish line, so be it! Less than three weeks to go!

Fun Fact: I weighed myself before and after the run. Despite drinking 80 ounces of Water and G2 on the run, I still lost 4 pounds. That means I sweated out 9 pounds! Yikes! Don't worry, though. I rehydrated the whole rest of the day yesterday and was back to my normal-ish weight by this morning.

I can't wait to be where you are! I remember in high school I was able to run miles without feeling exhausted. Now I can't even run 10 feet without feeling winded. Proud of you! Keep it up! :)

That is outstanding.

I can't even get my mind wrapped around those distances.

Great job.

Great job.

Considering I remember how big a deal it was the first time I ran ONE whole mile, it's pretty incomprehensible that I will soon be running 26.2! I was doing C25K back when I was 31 years old. I ran a whole mile straight on my treadmill. I called my husband down to the basement yelling and screaming. He probably thought I was dying! And then when I got off the treadmill, I called my parents crying. That's how proud I was of running ONE mile!

@@JamieLogical You are such an inspiration. I am just starting my WLS journey and I have so many concerns and worries. I just looked back at your entire story and it has helped me tremendously. So many emotions that you yourself also went through. Thank you for taking the time to continue your story after the surgery. I look forward to keeping up with your continued progress in the months and years to come.

Jen

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
