6 Month Retrospective

Recommended Posts

I am thankful and greatful to have such a tool, it really does watch out for me when I am wanting to binge because I miss Matt or I feel some other emotion. Without it I would likely be past my highest ever weight of ...... -=drum roll please=- big confession here..... 267 pounds. That is what I weighed when I decided to try Jenny Craig and I lost about 45 pounds only to regain to 255 and realize that I just could not keep on doing this to myself. I needed to find a way to make this cycle stop.

Soooooo, Here I am! Where there is a will there is a way! Long live the Band!!

-=jumps off her soapbox and takes a bow=-

lol where did all that come from.....

thanks for the ear

Thats what it is all about Leslie, getting off the weight loss treadmill and making that permenant change.

Throughout my life I have lost lots of weight, but I have always had that monkey on my back, thinking about not if, but when you will regain it. What will be the event that will derail all my hard work and send me back to where I was before or higher. Now I dont feel that way, it is refreshing to know that this time it is forever.

I know about emotional eating, I think I was actuallly an all-emotion eater. I learned at a young age that there was nothing that a cookie or 12 could not make you feel better about.

Take care of yourself and focus on the postive changes you have made and think about the where you would have been without the band at this point in your life.

Andrew

I hear ya Leslie! It really is hard, hard work!! There are moments though that I wouldn't mind having that magic wand!!! :)

Andrew - I also feel that this time the weight loss is permanent (however slow it may be) :faint: I have really noticed the change in mindset more than anything. For instance, I went on holidays recently and my eating was horrible (bad, bad me) but the nice part was... I only gained 2.5 lbs, not 10-15 lbs and even better... I had the weight back off in less than 10 days. The difference I noticed was... it didn't really bother me, I didn't sweat it, I knew overall I am eating healthier and have control of my eating for the first time in my life - bascially - I felt more in control and feel more healthy each day.:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

You have all been an inspiration to me. Andrew your pictures are so amazing and I am so proud for you and hopeful for me.

I so totally understand your comment about emotional eating. I went to a 2 session seminar about "food and mood" and while it was really interesting and helpful, I left thinking that I am all about all emotions and all food. I don't have any one trigger (although evenings are tough), but I use food for happiness, sadness, anger, depression - everything and have done so for my whole life.

Andrew you were mentioning the whey isolate Protein powder. Do you know of anything that is pretty good and can be bought somewhere in Calgary? I know you like the on-line stuff, but I am not sure if I am ready to buy things on-line yet (I know I am from the dark ages) :faint:- especially if I don't know if I will like it.

Thanks

Jacquie

Just go to any Popeye's store in Calgary, they will have it. There is on on the corner of 32nd ave & 19st, or there is one on Mcloed trail near the Henniger Toyota. I am sure there are others too if you look in the phone book.

I just order from thir online store, but sometimes it is on sale there.

Andrew

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
