Hi all- I was sleeved on July 9th, so I am about 6 weeks post op. I lost 22 lbs from week 1-5, but this last week (maybe two weeks actually) the scale has not budged!! Today, I even gained a lbs. How is this possible? I am tracking my calories with MyFitnessPal, and I can barely even finish any of the things I prepare, so my caloric intake is actually LESS than what I'm recording. I have started riding my bike again, and walking. I used to do NOTHING everyday, so this increase in activity is monumental, and theoretically should boost my metabolism. I am 34, so is my metabolism just shot now? Is this a thyroid thing? I've had my thyroid tested before, and the levels were normal. In the past when I have lost weight (I have lost around 70 lbs before, multiple times, and just put it back on) I would never plateau. I would lose a steady 2-5 lbs per week.

What AM I wrong????!!!

I'm so frustrated!!!

HELP ME!

You mention calories but not Protein. Rather than minimizing calories, it is more important to maximize your Protein. What is your protein target? How are you doing at reaching your protein target and getting at least 64 oz of Fluid? Protein and fluids are critical for healing and weight loss.

That said, none of us lose at a constant or steady rate. We all experience periodic stalls. Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. If you intend to lose a significant amount of weight, you will experience stalls.

Embrace the Stall

You are not alone. It is a weight loss thing. Our bodies take time to adjust and the scale won't move no matter what we do. I had the same thing happen around 6 weeks. Up, down, up, down, for 14 days. Last weekend the scale started down again and I have lost 4 lbs in 3 days. Yea! Other posters have experienced the same.

Just keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off.

If you are exercising more now, you might actually be gaining muscle. Have you been measuring yourself? Sometimes you have to pay attention to your size and not the scale. It really depends.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
