Hello all,

I'm 6 days post op Gastric bypass, and I am never ever hungry. I've been forcing myself to eat a few sips of Protein shakes and some sugar free Jello. The thought and action of eating makes me physically nauseous. I've been taking my anti nauseous medicine, but I don't feel like eating at all.

I've been trying to get my fluids in...I generally do okay.

I guess I just wanted to know if this is something everyone deals with or if it's normal?

be glad for it and milk it for everything it's worth. It's super easy to stick to the food plan when you're never hungry. There are a lucky few whose hunger never comes back (I hoped and prayed I'd be one of them), but for the vast majority of us, the hunger does come back - anywhere from a few months to a year later (mine came back at six months out). After it comes back, it becomes more of a challenge to stick to the program -because you're hungry!! (although most people say their hunger is not as intense as it was pre-surgery). It will never in your life be easier to lose weight as it will be the next few months - so take full advantage of it!! (but do make sure you get all your nutrients in - you want to stay healthy!!)

p.s. the nausea should go away soon - I only had it the first few days post-op. If it doesn't, call your surgeon's office.

After RNY gastric bypass surgery, I completely lost my hunger. I found it was not too difficult to lose weight when hunger was not constantly, continuously gnawing at my bones. Before surgery, whenever I was eating, I was already thinking about what my next meal would be. This condition of no hunger will last for about a year and then hunger will return, but it will not be as strong as pre-surgery.

I had a hernia repair and RNY 8/3/16 and have not felt hungry at all since. I theorize that I had the benefit of hunger center intervention through the procedure. Instead I will lose focus/energy; dizziness; cloudiness as an indication to eat. There are other signs and symptoms. Listen to your body.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
