Hi! I'm a newbie from Lexington and submitted all of my paperwork to Dr. Weiss' office about two weeks ago. I hope their offices call next week for my initial appointment. I'm so anxious to get the ball rolling! :)

Thankfully my insurance (Anthem BCBS) will cover 80% of the surgery so, if I'm approved, will only have to come out of pocket for a few thousand dollars. I'm just worried that I'll have to wait 6 or 7 months to find out if I can have the surgery.

Did Dr. Weiss' office provide a lot of information when they first called you or did you have to wait until your first appointment to have all of your questions answered?

{Sorry, I meant to directly reply to Audrey's post!} :)

Once I submitted my paperwork they called within 2 weeks. I also have anthem and I was required to do a 6 month physician supervised diet. I just finished and submitted to Dr Weiss' ofc, and I received my pre auth for surgery within a week. I'm now waiting for them to call for my appt with Dr Weiss and discuss surgery date. I started the process in April. It's a long process but it's gonna be so worth it!

Waiting for surgery date...

I'm waiting for the same appointment. Everyday in like okay they'll call today! lol be had my approval for almost 2 weeks. I'm so ready to keep moving forward! Best of wishes!

Do you mean hiccups post-op?

Eating slowly, taking small bites, chewing thoroughly, waiting between bites, will help avoid hiccups.

Is the surgery date they put on the form they send to insurance, the actual date of surgery or can they change it?

Ha! I totally thought you meant hiccups literally!

As to what you meant, the WLS process gives us a great opportunity to practice polite persistence, patience, and perseverance.

Lol sorry about that ????. I just hope my ins approves it this week. I'm worried they will deny me for having a 40.6 bmi now. I have lost about 15lbs since I started seeing my dieticians. I start my liver shrinking diet tomorrow.

That's who I'm seeing. I started the process in June. But I already had the 6 month done. My biggest problem was waiting on insurance. What are some pros and cons with Dr. Weiss?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
