3 Month post-op Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I had my band done April 30, 2007. Has anyone run into a plateau between the second and third fill? Does this break after a fill? or at least speed it up? I am concerned that my weight loss is going to slow down until I reach my goal?

Is this normal or I am I the only minute case? Please let me know, thanks.

Don't let yourself become frustrated. We all hit plateaus and I don't think it has anything to do with how far out post-op you are, rather it's just your turn for your first "slow down". I have found that periodically my body just does this but it usually sparks back up and I end up losing quite a chunk again quickly. It's all part of the process. A good way to break out of it is to spice up your exercise and/or eating. Try a new exercise routine or try eating a few more calories for a few days. Usually this perks up my metabolism and gets my weight loss going again. You'll be OK, just hang in there!

I would only reiterate what LapBandit has stated. I myself was banded just this past 5/9. I have lost over 100lbs but have even plateaued for a week here and there. Just give yourself a little change up with calories and exercise and it usually breaks it. Good luck and stay positive !!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
