Took me 4 months to think of doing this, but hopefully it will help someone else.

1 sugar-free pudding cup whatever flavor you like

+1 scoop of GENEPRO Protein Powder

=31gms Protein, 158cal and 11carbs

I can't taste the protein powder at all and it mixes in very smoothly. Not a fan of other protein powders so I can't speak for those. Genepro serving size is 1tbsp compared to other protein powder servings that equal 2tbsp so not sure how well those will work.

I bought GENEPRO based on how many people say you can't taste it. I've used it in a V8 Splash diet juice, I can taste it. :(

I'll try your pudding/yogurt hack and see if that works for me better.

I was excited to read your post. Thanks for sharing. I love how much less you have to use. I stopped at the Vitamin shoppe tonight to buy some but they don't carry it. I'll order online.

I am a little bit leery about the amount of Protein they say is in it though. If you start researching it, I guess people do question whether their claim is really true. So I think I'll take it in to my nutritionist appointment in two weeks just to check with them too. If anyone else has done more research or asked their doctor about whether we can really count it as 30 gr, can you let me know. Thanks. I hope it's true.

Thanks for sharing!

I've tried so many Protein powders including vegetable and egg, I can't stomach any of them, that's why I tried GENEPRO to begin with. I've heard all the naysayers concerning Genepro and I can't stand behind their guarantees, but my nutritionist has signed off on it and I feel fine. I agree @@determinedtolive I can taste Genepro despite the claims, but I can barely taste it in the pudding that's why I was excited to share. I hope this helps some folks and Genepro's claims are true. =)

According to the Magazine Article here by Elizabeth Anderson RN, Protein 101. she writes, "Did you know the body simply cannot absorb more than 30 grams of Protein per meal? If any of your Protein drinks or bars are promising more than this per serving, don’t be fooled into thinking you are giving your body that full amount."

I've read that in other areas as well. That is so important, when some patients think they can fake the system by double upping on scoops of Protein Powder.< /span>

Fabulous idea, thank you!

One from me: I made my own cottage cheese/paneer this weekend:

Bring 8 cups 2% milk to a boil (I flavored the milk with salt and cumin seeds), add 1/4 cup of lemon juice and simmer as curds separate; pour into cheesecloth lined colander and hang to drain liquid, squeeze cheese between two plates and refrigerate. Make sure to keep a pot under the colander to save the liquid whey. The whey can then be used as Protein in homemade soup!

@@trekker954 - That is good to keep in mind about the 30gr of Protein at a time. I wonder how long it takes to digest before more can be added? Like is 15 minute wait before adding a bit more good, or is it like 4 hours?

My nutritionist has said the same thing about 30gms of Protein is all your body can absorb at a time, but I found this article from what appears to be a nutritionist explaining Protein absorption.

ASMBS is the authority of WLS, this is what they say about Protein...

https://asmbs.org/patients/life-after-bariatric-surgery

Q: Can I take all of the Protein in one dose?
A: Protein should be taken in multiple doses, across multiple meals or healthy Snacks. The body cannot absorb more than approximately 30 grams at once. Also, protein is a nutrient that helps us feel fuller, longer. If we try to include Proteins in each of our meals or healthy Snacks, we’re less likely to feel hungry when it’s not time to eat.

Lots of people use genpro and it works fine for them. The people that run it and represent it come off as bro-science d-bags and I would never give them a penny. What they are claiming doesn't really make scientific sense, unless they are onto some next level stuff that no one else on the planet has figured out.

That being said if it works for people, they should use what works.

I'm only a week post op, but had used GENEPRO during my pre-op and even before that. Its tasteless, mixes well in just about anything I've tried. I know so many who are using it and they are all having good results. "Come off as bro-science d-bags". Why because they are muscle guys? What is your background that you say its not scientific enough.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
