I had surgery on 8/2. I am still feeling under the weather. I have a swollen belly but not hard. I gained 6 lbs in hospital and slowly losing it. I feel pretty weak. I am walking but feel exhausted when I get home. I am forcing 2 Protein Shakes per day. Does all this sound about right? I was not really expecting such a swollen belly and to feel so weak. Thanks.

Are you constipated? How are you doing on fluids?

I had surgery 8/2 also and when I went to the Drs today to get my drain removed and I gained 5 lbs. my stomach is also hard and I am still passing a lot of gas. Not much of an appetite but I can drink all of my Water and I aim for 2 Protein shakes a day but definitely get one down. I was baffled why my stomach was so swollen and why I didn't lose.

No I am not constipated and I can tolerate fluids but can only get so much in because I just don't desire much and second, shakes fill me for many hours. Did you have RNY and did you experience any of my symptoms?

I'm 2 weeks post RNY and probably 3 days ago my stomach finally is where it's not swollen, so that part is normal however you shouldn't be gaining weight you may want to see if you're retaining Water also yes it's normal to have to force your shakes down but make sure you're getting your liquids in also it's hard now but within a week or so you will feel much better.

Thank you so much. You put my mind at ease. Just to clarify, I gained weight in the hospital post op and I am slowly losing it at home. Not gaining at home thank goodness. Sounds like you are doing well.

I had surgery on the 4th, i dont think my belly is swollen anymore, but I am pretty weak. I try to walk this trail with my dog every day but it seems like Im stopping to sit more than walking, by the time I get home i need a nap. Lol. I'll be soooo glad when I get my energy back.

I went to one if my Dr's today and I have lost 20lbs since my pre-op last week, sounds good, but seems excessive to me.

Im so done with liquid everything. It is a real struggle to get my shakes in. Come on mushy food stage!

Good luck to you Im sure everything is a'ok, our bodies all heal at their own pace.

It's never too late, until its too late

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
