Things that I'll be taking to hospital

Recommended Posts

Where's the tequila and limes ?????

Just kidding.

I wasn't allowed to wear anything but their no-slip socks as far as footwear was concerned.

Most important things I took:

Pillow for ride home.....hold against abdomen and relax.

Post op pain med prescription filled for the ride home.

iPhone loaded with an iBook, iTunes and my earbuds.

Anker remote battery for easy recharges and no need to reach for a wall outlet...able to keep everything on my rolling table.

Gas-X strips were taken but never used.

Geez, why don't tell her to bring diet coke and straws? ;-) Oh and pizza coupons.

LONG cords for your chargers were helpful by the way. Slip on shoes were great.

Thanks for all the effort, dedication, support, and manipulation that I have encountered over this post. I hope you all can pat your selves on the back for, your own self center ways. I hope that you all haven't faced 1/2 of the drama that I have faced with this group of people.... I wish you all the best of luck on your journey of been better not bitter you.

And for me, I will continue to post what I want to post, I will continue to be happy inside and out, I will no longer entertain you self centers people...

Thanks to everyone that have been positive to things that I post, it was so much that someone giving constructive criticism it's the collected criticism...

On the note I have support around me 24-7. Maybe you'll life isn't felled with joy but mines is.

Everyone was only simply trying to help. Your profile picture says "There is power in positivity" there certainly is but it begins within first. I pray that you have a great journey & realize that we are all here to be system of support & to learn through each stage.

No one was trying to attack you in anyway but for some reason you seem really sensitive, I was pretty grouchy on the pre-op diet as well so I get it. We can all learn & grow from each other.

With much love & peace to you on your journey... Good luck!

Consider taking some nice gifts for your hospital caregivers, too. Something tells me they are gonna earn them.....

@@Dub Great post at 4:31.

I wish I knew what hospital; I'd call the OR, nurses stations and admins to alert them: Buckle up and hold on! Dang.

PS [7:35 PM]: After reading the OP's response to me [5:55 or so] and others, I will now add to the above...an English/spelling book; a book about proper syntax; and most importantly, a STAT psych evaluation immediately upon the patient's arrival.

The non-medical person in me is cracking up: are we being punked? (Didn't Alex just post something about this approach?) But the physician/surgeon in me says serious "psychochopathology," maybe borderline personality/emotion dysregulation? And we don't even have to be a medical person to consider that.

Y'all have fun here.

I needed that laugh, as well as an interpreter.

You know I wasn't going to say anything else but you are being absolutely ridiculous!

My dear if you keep running into drama on the forums, you ever stop to think hmmmm....maybe it's you. No one was being rude or manipulative as you said but simply offering assistance and telling you their experience. I'm sooooo glad you have the support you need and I also pray that you aren't so harsh with them. I also tend to believe those that are sooooooo happy with their lives don't feel the need to have to say it constantly. While I hope you are truly happy, I doubt it..

In the words on the late great Michael Jackson (because I know I shouldn't even respond to this)..I'm starting with the man in mirror, I'm asking him to change his ways and I urge you to do the same.

The best of luck to you on your journey..

I will now return to my joyless life.

Peace, love and happiness.

I am dying here. D'Sleeved may need to change her forum name if she ever wants to post again! LOL Did anyone pay attention to how many likes the POSITIVE comments got? I too brought all those things and never used any of them. In fact, I have a brand new box of Biotene still unopened. I preferred crunching ice chips to wet my mouth.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
