Yeah I was using Zofran for a few days post surgery. I also was using/sniffing rubbing alcohol. It was what my nurse at the hospital was using on me to help combate the nausea. It actually worked. When I was feeling like I was about to puke, I would sniff the cotton ball with Alcohol and be able to stop myself. Hugs to you, as this will get better.

Also, if you start puking and can't stop, get to the hospital. The quickest was to suffer from sever dehydration is by unstoppable vomiting.

I will be two weeks on Monday and I am still on full liquids. Next phase is purees/baby food. I try straying and it wasnt good. Give your system a chance to heal. Follow you doctors instructions, you'll be eating other things so enough. Try to concentrate on getting in you Protein.

I am 3-1/2 months postop and doing great. I still cannot tolerate eggs but I was never a real egg person prior to surgery. My most severe issue following surgery was nausea and it was very bad to the point where all I was really consuming was Water. I couldn't tolerate anything not even the Protein Drinks. But now I'm doing great. I've lost 82 pounds to-date and couldnt be any happier. Even with the extremely tough start of this new life, I couldn't be happier now. I still eat very little (approx) half a cup but I get full with that and am very happy watching the weight fall off....u too will reach this point as well! Hang In there!!

@@LoveAlwaysKia,

Congratulations on your surgery!

I hope you’re feeling better by now, but if not…asking your surgeon/doctor for a prescription for an anti-nausea medication can help.

In the meantime, do everything you can to get in some fluids. They’re really important. You can end up in the emergency room if you get dehydrated. It’s really hard to get your fluids down, but they’ll help you get over the nausea – and any other unpleasant surgery effects – way faster.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
