Can Anyone Help?? I Am In Melbourne!

Recommended Posts

:)Hi everyone i was wondering if anyone was interested in catching up in the local melbourne or surrounding areas to talk about food intakes.i have been having a problem with my band for a long time and i REALLY would like to talk to other lapbanders who have been in the same situation as me and have managed to get through it:help:. i was supposed to meet up with someone from this website last night and i was really looking forward to it but they never got back to me and i am really dissapointed because they sounded so sincere on the phone and i still believe they are but i am dissapointed,i cried!!! :thinkhow stupid is that!! thats how much i need to talk to someone face to face in this positon so im hoping that there are some people that can and will be willing to catch up and talk, i dont think the doctors truly understand as they have never been through this:confused:. hope someone or someones can help!!!:clap2:

Unfortunately I'm not in Melbourne so I can't meet up with you, but is it anything you'd be willing to discuss on this forum? There are some very experienced and generous Aussie bandsters on this site who I suspect might be able to give you some advice online.

I understand how you feel. I am not banded yet, but would also love to meet someone as you say 'face to face' who has been banded. I am in New South Wales.

I hope you find someone.

Hugs Beth.

Phili, I think there may be a temporary glitch in the PM system. When it is working again send me a PM and I will get back to you. Susannah

Hi Kelly,

I live at Crescent Head, which is up Coffs Harbour way on the north coast of NSW. There is a lapband surgeon coming to Coffs, but I do not know when. I may need to travel to Qld. to find a surgeon that does this type of surgery.

Hey Phili,

I sent you a PM. I'm in the outer eastern suburbs but love to meet others and help out if I can. I go to the organized meetings at the valley also (Valley Private Hospital Police Rd. Mulgrave) - if you can make those do go because you don't have to have been banded there to attend - it's just a coin donation (to cover food/drink) on the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm

The normal nurse that runs them is on maternity leave and the sub isn't that great at running the actual meeting part but the people are still there so it is great to have a talk afterwards. The actual meetings have barely been lasting 10 mins so it's really 50mins+ of socializing with other band patients in groups or one-on-one and helping each other out or catching up. It's a good social support network to have and everybody is welcome.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
