First came the tailbone pain 2 weeks post op. Then came low back pain 4 weeks post op. As bad as I've ever had it. Spent the next week in bed. Prescribed norco, slelaxin, pt and mri. 6 weeks later still limits my standing and sitting. I wish I could move more to help with weight loss. I haven't lost much since this happened. Worst of all being in chronic pain takes my mind to food for comfort.

I will be so glad when this passes.

I had terrible pain across my hips and have sciatica before my surgery. Was the last straw to kick me in to surgery. Have not had the pain since the surgery, but still have sciatica. I have pt stretching to help, and have had to add a pillow behind my back when sitting.

Great feed here. I am 3.5 months post op, down 58lbs and I too am dealing with ass pain! I've also notice some lower back pain come back and stick around longer than usual. All part of it I guess! This really helped me wrap my head around it though, need to keep moving and exercising!

Wow glad to know I'm not the only one! My tailbone hurts also when sitting and I had assumed that it came from the lack of "padding" but a few weeks later came the lower back pain. I was thinking the back pain was coming from my plush pillow top mattress, maybe to soft but now after reading yalls post, I see this is something that comes with the territory.

It also comes with bad posture from being overweight and not adjusting your posture. If that's the case it's fixable!!! Check with a PT or chiropractor or even a good personal trainer or yoga instructor! My posture was horrible!

Couple quick tricks/tests....

When you drive is your head back against the head rest? If not your posture needs work.

Think of drawing your shoulder blades down and towards each other, pinching something between them.

Use lumbar support when sitting.

When walking or standing think about turning your palms towards the front with your thumbs away from your body.

If any of these feel awkward or uncomfortable, your posture could be the culprit.

When I fixed my posture it was AMAZING the changes I experienced. We learn to walk/sit/etc to balance an unbalanced body when we are obese. We continue those postures when we lose weight and need to fix them for our new bodies

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
