Temperature change post surgery?

Recommended Posts

For those who are post surgery status, do you notice that you are colder since getting closer to your goal weight?

After complaining of being hot year around, even inside in the AC, my dietitian says once I lose weight I will need to carry a sweater with me.

I hope this is a fact! I'm so tired of being hot!

Yes, I find myself colder at certain parts of the day but especially at night.

I'm praying for this effect as well. I am constantly overheated. I'd love to need a sweater everywhere.

I was cold all the time for the first 6 months or so.

Now I am probably pretty normal. I don't get warm as fast as I used to, and I am more susceptible to being cold, but I am not freezing all the time like I was when I was dropping weight really fast.

Yup always cold.. Husband thinks I'm nuts for wearing a sweatshirt in July.

I'm not even close to my goal weight and I have already noticed a difference. I've lost about thirty pounds and find I get cold quicker. I have always been hot natured and once heated it takes me forever to get cool but it's better now

At first I think that comes from some mild hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), and after I lost a good deal of weight I also feel (thankfully) cooler, and now I think it's because my body doesn't have as much insulating fat on it. Much easier in summertime now! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
