If you have a taste for something sweet, remember that is a learned behavior. Unlearn it with some iced lemon Water or water with Crystal Light mixed in. Or do what I do. I tell myself, "Been there. Done that. I'm on a new path to a brand new me. Something sweet for a moment is not as sweet as being in a size 14 jeans." I don't give into it. In my year of research before I decided to have the sleeve surgery, I never ran across anything that mentioned tooth loss as a containdication. Tooth loss can be caused by a wide variety of neglectful habits like: not brushing twice a day, using methamphetamines or a sugared soft drink habit, etc., etc. Tooth loss can happen if the patient has had long standing periodontal disease, which is a non-painful, albeit serious progression of bone loss due to neglecting gum and tooth health. The breath becomes bad, the supporting gum tissue becomes red and very inflamed, the teeth become loose, and unless an aggressive hygiene program is started by your dentist, teeth will be lost. Periodontal disease is very serious. The bacteria related to this process can cause organ failure. Make an appointment with your dentist to stop tooth loss; the sooner the better.
