Where in Brooklyn are ya? And how's that going? Do you have to do a liquid diet before that too or do you just go for surgery?

I live in Bensonhurst. Moved here 3 years ago, and I love it. Do you live in Flushing?

I start the liquid diet tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to the 1st couple days, but I know it gets easier after that.

I grew up in flushing! Lived there until I was 27. I was actually born in that hospital back when it was Booth Memorial :)

I live in Long Island now - having surgery at Winthrop...

Good luck to you

Hi there, I got sleeved in Manhattan on 8/5 by Dr. Linda Zhang at Mount Sinai (really love my surgeon--she's super!). Exactly 3 weeks ago. I recovered so quickly. Been able to eat everything, love the sensation of getting full and leaving food in my plate. This had never happened before in my entire life.

I have 2 major issues. Number one is insomnia which leads to eating late at night. I have eaten nuts and yogurt, feeling very guilty. As a result my weight loss has slowed down. I have only lost 10 lb since my surgery (I'm 5.8" and weighed 258.5 on day of surgery. BMI 38).

I had an appointment with my surgeon 2 days ago. She said my weight loss was on target and there was nothing to worry about. She advised me to eat 4 smaller meals to make room for my late night cravings. But she did advise me to seek help for my sleep issues with my primary care physician.

My second issue is that Soup and pureed foods, like pureed bananas do not make me full. Few nights ago I had 14 oz of lentil Soup and was still hungry. I had another 6 oz afterwards. So total of 20 oz of soup! My surgeon said this was most unusual and that I should stick to solid Proteins instead as they DO infact make me feel really full. She also advised me to have my Protein shake late at night.

Love to hear your stories and feedback!

Hi all -- I live in Manhattan. I had the sleeve on April 17, 2015 at NYU. I have since lost 120 lbs. If you have questions about post-sleeve issues, I'd be happy to answer, although It's been pretty smooth for me. DO REMEMBER to take your Vitamin D and Vitamin B supplements, especially Vitamin D and B6 and B12, as I became very low in those after about a year. Good luck to you all!

I live in Queens! I had my gastric sleeve done in Mexico by Dr. Alejandro Lopez on June 24th, 2016. I am 5'8" tall, my heighest weight was 321 pounds, my weight the day of surgery was 305 pounds and as of last week August 30th I weighed 257 pounds. I don't belong to a support group but I follow up with my regular practitioner. I would love to have a support group of some kind in the area. Best of luck to all of you!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
