Tummy tuck BEFORE WLS?

Recommended Posts

I had a Tummy Tuck 8 years ago and now thinking of having the sleeve surgery. I know. ... I did this backwards.

Has anyone done this? Any extra complications? Will the procedure of bloating my body during the surgery affect my tummy tuck?

Thanks everyone.

The gas they put in your torso to lift your organs is minimal. It isn't like they puff you out like a pregnant woman. They do cut your abdominal muscles, not sure what that might do if you had them stitched together in the past.

Share your concerns with a Dr and get their opinion.

One of the questions the bariatric surgeon will ask is if you've had any other abdominal surgeries.....They will be the only ones who can tell you if it will complicate any issues. good luck to you!

I think @JaimeLogical had TT before WLS. You might message her if she doesn't see this tag (not sure if I spelled it exactly right).

They cut your abdominal muscles for the sleeve? Did you have an open procedure? With laparoscopic, the incisions are minimal.

@TheRealMeIsHere!

I had a laparoscopic procedure. There is no way to them to get to your organs without cutting through the muscle. A small cut is still a cut.

I had a TT in 2002. It was a great success. Due to illness, I gained weight. So far, my tummy is shrinking and it looks like the loose skin will be minimal and the TT will regain it's integrity. Hope that helps.

My friend had a TT 7-8 yrs before WLS. It did not cause any complications and actually seems to have helped her not have so much loose skin as many of us do. Her tummy was far tighter before surgery than most of us are.

There is a woman on here with the name Jamie logic (i think that's the spelling). She had tummy tuck, regained the weight and had sleeve some years later. She is happy with her stomach still (i believe). Look her up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
