I'ts a Secret

Recommended Posts

Do whatever you need to do. I was afraid to tell DH because I (we) were self-pay and it was soooo much money I felt so selfish. But, I got over that and thought whats co-pay on a heart attack or stoke. I then asked my whole family for support!! I'm glad I need.

Best Wishes, Connie

Hello. Everyone.

About 5 years ago when I stopped smoking. I gained so much weight. i tried everything. Nothing seemed to work. After gaining over 50 lbs . I had a baby putting on another 21 lbs. Family and friends try and spare my feelings by not telling me how big I've gotten. Well I finally came to the decision about getting banded. No one knows. I will tell my husband after I get it done. Because I know he would freak out the thought of a weight loss surgery. I told him that I'm getting a procedure done. I'm doing this for me. I'm 5"3in 248 lbs that is not cute. I'm only 35 yrs old.

I want to enjoy my children, my husband and my friends. I went to a bachalorette party I was so out of breath with just seconds on movements. I went with my daughter on a out door trip with her school I had to keep stopping the walking was killing me. I love having sex but with the weight gain, I'm limited to one position all others tire me out. I want my old back. Give me 9"s and 12"s not 18"s and 20"s. So I will keep my secret until its over. Oh god I hope nothing goes wrong.;) Sep 6 is my date.

Guys its no longer a secret, today I felt really bad about not discussing my surgery with my husband. He said he had and idea I was up to something . He said I had been getting so many eob from the insurance company and he knew I wasnt sick. He was relieved that it was the gastric bypass. Well I took him to meet my doctor. Believe it or not he wasnt angry. He did admit that he was a little hurt that I was planning something and out of all people I couldnt come to him. He said that he would have tried to talk me out of it, however if this surgery was that important to me than he would support it. I told him I was gonna tell him write after the surgery. I just didnt want him to stop me from doing it. He read all of the responses from u guys. Some he thought was funny but he did say he was glad that you didnt support my madness about keeping it a secret. He agreed not to discuss it with anybody.

Sincerly

Mrs and Mr Essence 36

You would be OK with it if your husband hid something as important and life changing as this from you?

Sounds to me that if you cannot trust your husband with this information that maybe your marriage needs the attention first.

Hope you get all worked out.

Essence, I'm glad you told him, but I'm really glad that he took it so well and is being so supportive. It's always a slap in the face to have a fear like that, and then to have it come true, you know?

Are you getting anxious for your date? It's only a couple weeks off now!

Good, I'm glad. Sometimes people just need a little time to work things out. Getting a band means a lot of head work. You have to come to the realization that you can't do it by yourself anymore. Then you have to decide how to proceed. Then you have to admit and accept it means surgery. None of it is easy.

A little time means everything in the world.

You should be excited, you have a whole new world ahead of you. A new life, a new way of doing things, a thinner and healthier person. It's all good!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
