Unjury Protien; What's your favorite flavor?

Recommended Posts

Today I was trying to decide what Protein drink I wanted buy that is on my surgeon approved list. I looked over the list (a whopping 4 choices) and it seems that powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is the most affordable and also contains a lot

of Protein, which will help me reach my protein goals easier.

So to those of you who have tried it. What is your favorite flavor?

I personally lean more towards chocolate flavors for my Protein shakes. But it seems that they have a classic chocolate and chocolate splendor. I'm just wondering which of the two is less sweet. I hate when things are overpoweringly sweet. I know if I can't handle it pre op that I won't be able to handle it post op!

And if I like the chocolate Unjury, I might order some more flavors based off of some of your guys feedback, so let's hear it!

I liked the chocolate splendor (I think is what they called it).......but also enjoyed the chicken flavor because you get really tired of all the sweet stuff.....I bought strawberry and never even opened it........If you lived near me I'd give you these three containers I have....hahaha I don't have to do any Protein drinks anymore.

The chocolate was pretty good.

chicken Soup was okay as long as you don't let the Water get too hot (it clumps up).

Their strawberry flavor was about the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life. One swallow and I tossed the whole can into the garbage.

I heard bad things about the strawberry being yucky. I'm not sure about chicken Soup either, I'm probably just going to end up making my own soup and putting unflavored Protein in it. I guess I'll have to get a food thermometer so I don't have trouble with clumping.

Was chocolate splendor sweet in your opinion?

chocolate splendor is great. I would advise at least getting some packets of chicken Soup because a lot of people really don't find sweet flavors nearly as appealing after surgery.

That's really a very subjective question.....but to me the chocolate spendor was good.....I tried Quest brand and found it to be too sweet....so I can say it's "less" sweet than Quest. :-)

I used a candy thermometer when I made the chicken soup....I highly recommend it!

I regularly use unjury Protein Powders which were recommended to me by a friend. After reading most of the reviews of each of the products I was interested in, and learning about the difference between whey Protein isolate and whey protein concentrate, I decided to give Unjury try and have been using them since about 6 months prior to my surgery. Fortunately, my taste for the Unjury shakes did not change after surgery, but I know it does for some. In fact, my NUT recommended not to get too stocked up on any particular Protein powder before surgery just in case my tastes for such did change.

I have been quite impressed with the flavor and quality of the vanilla, chocolate Splendor, and the chicken flavored mixes. Both taste great and mix up easily. I've been using the chocolate Splendor mixed with milk for my Breakfast and the chicken flavor mixed with some chicken bouillon for my lunch. You just have to watch the Water temperature when preparing the Chicken flavor otherwise the whey will clump. It doesn’t change the taste, just the texture which can be weird. Both are quite filling and satisfying. I have tried the strawberry Sorbet mixed with lemonade also, and liked the taste okay, but rarely use it; need to work on the amounts mixed together to fine tune the beverage to better suit my taste for strawberry Lemonade. I've also tried the Unflavored powder mixed with milk when I ran out of the chocolate. The milk still tasted like milk, and it was okay, but I did not like it as well as I do the Chocolate Splendor or vanilla mixed with milk.

Most of my protein beverages are just shaken up; I do not use a blender or make them frozen for simplicity and time sake, and the fact that I use them more at work than at home.

Some of my favorite flavor combinations are:

  1. Vanilla Protein Powder, SF Sunrise Orange drink (it’s like an orange Dreamsicle)
  2. ½ serving Vanilla PP, ½ serving Chocolate Splendor PP ,4 oz. brewed coffee, chilled, 4 oz. skim milk
  3. Chocolate Splendor PP, 8 oz. skim milk, 1 or 2 servings PB2
  4. ½ serving Vanilla PP, ½ serving Chocolate Splendor, 8 oz. skim milk
  5. Chicken PP with less than a serving of chicken bouillon mixed with 8-10 oz. Water at 140 degs. A great option when you’re tired of all the sweet stuff.

If you are looking for a high quality, great tasting, satisfying protein powder that is better than anything you will find in the stores, then this is the product you want to purchase. You can't go wrong, especially since you can return the product if you aren't pleased with it.

chicken broth. Heaven. Just got my starter kit from unjury today. If their unflavored mixes as well as Isopure they may be my new fav.

It is 30% sodium but let's face it at this stage I am not eating more than cottage cheese and shakes so I am good with 1-2 of these. I put in extra Water as well.

Starter kit comes with small shaker (no annoying labels on it either) and thermometer to prevent clumps in hot Water. Awesome

And can I say again yum!?

I will report back as samples of many flavors for person who asked and if I hate one I would be happy to send the other to you!

Thanks so much I really appreciate your generosity and the info. I was thinking about getting the starter kit but wasn't sure if it would be worth it! It was either this or Bariatic advantage and that one is way too expensive for me and Unjury seems more popular!

I didn't like that Bariatric Advantage is only in the enormous bags. I had been ok with that brand though. But their "unflavored" is sweetened and that makes it useless. I was fortunate that my doc gave me loads of flavors to try. But is still have a lot of it that I will have to go through.

I highly recommend the unjury starter kit. It is a good package and includes the basic flavors so you can find out what you like.

I do like Isopure unflavored and it is 25g per serving which is more than Unjury 21. It is available on Amazon for a good price as well.

I am trying to force myself to work my way through all the BA mixes I bought before getting any sweet flavors from unjury. I did just order more chicken broth unjury.

Good luck and let me know if you like them I will try the strawberry tomorrow and report back!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
